Hi. Please I would like to ask does anyone have experience re entering usa after a status violation.Six years ago I had a status violation during my undergraduate degree. I didnt know and left the country 86 days later to renew my visa. I was curious if anyone has experience with such issue. As I have a graduate admission and was wondering how future visa interviews might be affected by my previous violation.

Hello Guys,

Please I would like someone to kindly shed light on this.
What is the implication of cancelling an already interview appointment.

Is it possible to cancel a scheduled Visa appointment to change the location?
For example, a scheduled appointment in Abuja to be canceled and then location changed to Lagos.

Thank you.

Sure, you can. Although you'd have to work hard again to get to this stage as priority would not be given to you to book a new date at another location. You might not necessarily need to pay for a new visa fee.

Good morning , please I was denied a previous f1 visa application in November , reason for denial was 214b .. I had applied to a community college , fully funded by my sponsor and was to live with my sponsor who happens to be my uncle and us citizen ..I like to believe that where I flopped the interview was when I was asked why I’m just going back to school now (which I answered ) then I was asked if I had any family in the us to which I replied my uncle and his family ( apart from all this I didn’t include my parents date of birth simply because I do not know it , dad is late ) please I need someone to let me know what to do to change this situation so as to re apply . Thank you

1. Sounded like you were really nervous
2. If you were currently volunteering, why did you say you were not working??
3. You shouldn't have presented your dad's SOA since the fund there wasn't enough to cover your deficit
4. I believe with the current situation you should be able to gather yourself all together and really prepare for your next interview.

PS: VO was fast or not, you need to get your responses right

Best of luck

Applying to a community college is a red flag. Why exactly did you apply to a community college?

Thank you . I applied to a community college due to the cost of fees and also the fact it would take just two years to get an associates degree . And then my age I’m 27 with no previous degree asides o levels and I tried to explain the reason why I have just decided to go back to school which I guess I didn’t explain clearly enough to the vo.. I’ll appreciate if you or anyone can let Me know what to do . Thank you

Pele.
You’d be asked what has changed.
Just mention that you were really nervous the last time.

Also, try to put yourself together and be consistent.
Not to worry, you’d get it on your next try. Just show them how confident you are.

Best wishes!

$94K is a lottt of money to spend on a MSc. Are you sure you couldn't find cheaper schools to apply to?

I just think getting a cheaper school will benefit you in the long run and give you a better chance with the VO. There are even schools that your personal savings + family savings will cover easily without having to apply for an MPower loan.

Is there anyway for the VO to know that one's brother or family is in the US?

VISA INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT

Interview Date: 6th May, 2022
Location: Abuja
Funding: Fully funded
First Attempt
Program: PhD Biological Scinece
School: University of Illinois
Status: *Approved*✅

VO: Good morning

Me: Morning sir (I didn't hear what he said very well, I passed my i-20 and passport

VO: Have you travelled before?

Me: Not at all

VO: Do your capturing

Me: I did my biometric capture

VO : Why did you choose UI?

Me : In my search for universities offering combination of Molecular Biology and Neurobiology, I came across UI as one of the best schools offering the double. However, being the only public research university at Chicago, UI offers me the laboratory research experience I need.

VO: What do you do?

Me: I am University lecturer at so so University, where i currently teach ... (He has already started typing while I focus my eyes on cimpletely on his eyeballs and whenever he looked at my direction, he saw my face looking relaxed).

VO: What is your plan after this program?

Me: I will be coming back to Nigeria to continue my lecturing job.

VO: Are you married?

Me: ( I didn't hear this one very well, so I asked him to repeat himself like 3 times). Yes

VO: When was that?

Me: 2018

VO: Is your wife going with you?

Me: She will be coming to visit

VO kept typing and after asked again, you said your wife will be visiting you

Me: Yes please, she will be visiting.

I didn't even hear what VO was saying at a point though (other VOs were speaking louder but then I knew he wasn't asking me any question.
The guy stood up to go to paper side, there were three types of paper. The blue, the white and the yellow paper in that order. As he reached out for the white I knew it's approval.
He then attached the white paper to my i-20 and gave me
I only heard pick your passport bla bla bla, and I said thank you

PS: Pray well
Be bold (probably be singing or speaking in tongues quietly before your time so that you charge your vocal system before you are called)
Eye contact must be 100%
Don't rush to answer any question, particularly the ones you didn't hear well.
Ask the VO to repeat the questions you either did not hear well or your brain couldn't immediately get an answer to, it is also a strategy to quickly gather a good response rather than stammering and saying rubbish (I asked VO to repeat a question 3 times when I didn't hear him). Amount of words you say do not matter, it is in the substance of your response
Know your story very well, any question can be asked in any order
Don't tell plenty story, no time. Say the most important things first and be as brief as possible
Please go to the embassy early (they don't check your appointment time before they interview you, but it saves you emotional and physical stress if you go there early)

VO didn't ask about my funding. He already saw that in my i-20. No document was also requested for except the i-20 i gave him.

I wasn't even eager to answer any question like that. Once I respond and he nods his head and start typing, I keep quiet and focus on him so that I won't say what I'm not supposed to say

All the best guys

I decided to share, since I have benefitted from other people experiences too

1. It's not so difficult to understand that you were jittery.

2. Why did you tell him you were unemployed. You shouldn't have.

3. You should have just listed your uncle as your sponsor, then provide convincing informations about why your uncle is capable and motivated to sponsor you.

No doubt yes but don't sound as if funds was your major set back last time rather also include how well you've developed via skill, academics and what you got to offer. Above all be CONFIDENT
I don't mean OVER CONFIDENT o because both are different things
Rector202:

I have gained skills in grant application writing, and skills in bioinformatics research. I have also traveled to an African country this year for an Academic Conference. Previously, I went with about a $54,000 deficit, but now I got a funded offer from a different school.

Please does the above capture a good response?

I am so sure that you were sacred and freaking out but what surprises me is that your composure has still not grown upon ur 2nd application. However I'll advise you always stay on ur lane because a mixture of fear+over confidence lead u to mention even ur uncle's company when perhaps the VO asked a simple question which was "WHO IS YOUR SPONSOR" of which the answer would had been "MY UNCLE".
Succesive denials are honestly not healthy for future application but I urge you take time, build up your flaws and take the next application you will be embarking on as your last(by LAST I mean, A MUST SCALE THROUGH THE PROCESS WHICH IS BUILT FROM YOUR PREVIOUS PROCESSES/EXPERIENCES)

Success is not final, failure is not fatal; It is the courage to continue that counts.
I hope to be part of your success story man

“ Dear Undergraduates,

I know people on educational committees and advice groups have not been nice to you.. You can’t blame them because undergraduate funding is as hard as finding gold or crude oil.. but fear not these are 10 schools you should focus your search on. They are very generous (even for international students) and if you have a good enough holistic profile you certainly have chances of being funded

1. Utica University
2. Duke University
3. Vanderbilt University
4. Amherst College
5. Berea College
6. Princeton University
7. Soka University (STEM inclined)
8. University of New Mexico
9. University of Notre Dame

These schools boasts of at least 90% funding for their undergraduate program which in turn will make them very competitive. So please evaluate yourself very critically, take tests (SAT, ACT) and pass them well, improve your extracurricular and leadership abilities, showcase your athletic capacities and pray for grace.

Love always
