I want to buy a toyota hilux 2009 and i wish to change the engine to a hilux 2020 or 2021 engine will it work. If it will work, what is the advantage and disadvantage of swaping a toyota hilux 2009 engine to 2020 or 2021engine , please i wish to know this because i want to buy this hilux thanks |

How much is a 2020 engine. Consider the cost of a 2009 Tacoma first if it has to be a Toyota. A 2009 Mitsubishi Triton or Nissan Frontier will be a more reasonable buy than going that route of buying a body and engine separately. |

kannex:I guess it's the 4cyl 2TR-FE. well the top cylinder is not the same. That engine is pricey 1.5m-2m |

GAZZUZZ:Thanks for this reply but sir i have two questions that i need answers to 1. so you mean trying this setup for same hilux that dont carry the same engine will not work abi? 2. What if i buy a 2016 model and changing the engine to 2020 will it work because i know that the 2016 carry the same engine with 2020 so will this setup work for 2016 model, that is swaping a 2016 engine and putting a 2020 or 2021 engine |

The only thing i understand about about your screenshot is that an engine can be upgraded to produce more horse power. |

If u want to use a 2020 engine,u will need the ecu and wiring of a 2020 Hilux ,which will cost u more than what u paid for the 2008 , , better leave that idea, it's easier to buy and install an older engine than to do the opposite |

There is no saving cost with that level of Toyota build, the only person that will make a lot of money is the mechanic which is why he gave you that idea. just buy a Tachoma, or other brands. 2009 model of Hilux is expensive enough |
