So, when the Arsenal job came in 1996, he was ready. In fact,three jobs were waiting for him: Nagoya Grampus of Japan,which he held briefly, Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

Behind every "First day at new job" post is probably hundreds of applications sent, scores of interviews attended and evenings of depression

I'm a civil engineer and into building construction,I get my jobs through referrals..99% of jobs in Nigeria is through one connection or the other, especially government jobs.



The jobs that people get mostly without connections are low paying salary jobs.

We like deceiving ourselves in this country,all the people talking about skills here,do you know how many graduates out there with skills that are now into operating of POS,UBER, BOLTS and so on

I'm more concerned about the Civil Service jobs. Having tried with no feedbacks, I'm beginning to doubt getting the job without any connection.

Just sent a simple application email. That's all.

Most standard private firms do not require connections, they need people who are willing and able to work.

Graduating with a good result is a plus too, including relevant Certifications. With zero experience, these are the major factors that'd make you get that interview invite.

It's not always about connection. The truth is, merit still exists. There are jobs some people apply that they just luckily get employed. Sometimes their CV and performance portray that of someone that can add great value to a firm or company. As such, the employers may easily favour such a person job.

By having skills everyone wants. I have never needed to know anyone to get a job.

My dear, I prayed and fasted like my life depended on it ooooh!
There's absolutely nothing prayer cannot do...Also, your first job though may not pay much will usually be without experience....People are getting jobs everyday, just have faith in God Almighty!! But be prepared to always improve yourself once you get it....start taking courses or go back to school immediately you get the job..Just don't sit down there and relax because you have gotten a paltry job.

Never let anyone dismiss the place of God's favour on this, because there are so many many qualified people out there and they are not getting it...

If it's office work and no experience then it's 100% connection, all the it is God and prayers is a BIG FAT LIE

But medicine and nursing does not need connection or experience as it's designed to get you straight into work

1. I bought a magazine published for practitioners in my field.

2. I harvested the email addresses of the various businesses and companies that advertised in the magazine. >20.

3. I sent out my CVs via email along with a covering message.

4. Two companies called me for an interview.

5. I was offered a job by one of them and I took it.

No long leg, man-know-man, no nepotism, no tribalism, none of that BS. I have been sent out on trainings overseas, owned brand new cars etc...

I could have strolled into some other companies at the time based on past affiliations but I wanted to know my worth in the labor market. So I put in the work.

I have never needed connection for anything in life, from gaining admission to study medicine and leaving during my 200 levels for NDA.

All i did was prepare enough and leave the rest for God.

Many people get work based on merit . When you're good, you're good.
