No, they were being political about it, simply because Imo is an APC state. Rivers won the case at the federal court of appeal, then Imo ran to supreme.

That aside if you know Akri and Mgbede you won't be saying this. These are areas in Rivers part of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA. The land, the people and the few facilities they have there was built by Rivers government. What has Imo State done for the area to claim it?

The judgement was not made based on Nigerian criminal borders but was made from as far back as 1925 during colonial times.

If you know how Nigeria lost Bakassi to Cameroon then you'll understand better.

Nobody is disputing the dynamics or who owns the area of dispute. My grouse is if you jump the NBC and get a judgement from supreme court what happens when NBC (which is the agency for boundary creation) decides to mark those territories as IMO state can't you see it has open up the case for more litigation? The point is Rivers state should have firstly take NBC to court to force them to "mark boundaries' and if they still go ahead to mark it wrongly, court will be approach to sort it out than jumping before gun to suit about " oil wells" then NBC is now coming out with this statement. I just hope after NBC do their work all the areas the 17 oil wells fall into is Rivers because any delineation that allows the wells in IMO state has open up the case for more litigation and it will end up obtaining different judgements on "the same case" on issues of technical grounds.

So if the NBC correctly establish that those areas actually fall within Imo State, Rivers State will continue to reap the proceeds?

A federal government institution will gazette that those areas are part of Imo State and you believe that Rivers State will continue to enjoy the resources on it?

Common sense should have told you that when such happens, it opens new grounds for it to be revisited.

The same way it is easy to bribe those Judges. It is the jurisdiction of NBC to demarcate boundaries not the supreme court. The supreme court can only act based on the report of the NBC.
The court was in a hurry to cede the oil wells to Rivers state. However, Imo state can still savage the situation given that NBC has not made a proper demarcation. Wike should not rejoice yet

I think the supreme Court was hasty in delivering judgement before the demarcation of boundaries.

What if after demarcation the oil Wells fall into the area marked as imo state?

Once the izombe oil facility was bombed I knew that judgement would never go the way of imo State. All of a sudden lzombe flow station was bombed less than 4 days to the court judgement? A lot of things are happening behind the scenes!

The fact that supreme Court passed a judgement without waiting for NBC to conclude its boundary demarcation shows they were compromised by Wike. Once NBC establishes that those areas belong to Imo State, it's only a matter of time before it will be revisited albeit politically with federal government intervention.

So this is just a premature phyrrc victory.

So it is the judges that cannot be bribed? Lol. I think the boundary commission should be allowed to do thier job. I am now feeling Wike might have bought the judgement because the boundary commission should have done its job first before any judgement can be paasset.
