Yeah

It doesn't affect lecturers since they have alternatives to get money and their salary keeps accumulating. Most of their children school overseas universities for the averagely okay people

The people in the government also have their children in expensive universities overseas too and, it doesn't stop their money too

The student are the ones at the receiving end

Parochial, low level thinking by a whole professor on food and small businesses.
How do we get to create outstanding services, manufactured goods to pay off the Chinese and other loans, with gutter level thoughts like this?
Haba your words are harsh. You need to understand what the prof is saying. He is emphasizing the micro economic effects of the strike. You are jumping to the macro economics. People have small businesses in schools and with the continued strike they are out of business. Abi where do you think those photocopiers, stationery sellers, boutiques, provision shops etc in students dominated areas will now be making their trade.

The businesses within the school environment that solely depends on students patronage are suffering as we speak.

No... It affects parents, lectures and many others.

It does not affect lecturers at all.
They can tell you it affects them but the truth is it doesn't affect them. The benefits to them outweigh any effect for those of them that still have children in Nigeria.
How does it benefits them?
They collect salaries for the months they didn't work for.
They have enough time to do research because there are no classes.
They make money from teaching in other schools or other businesses.
The graduate students among them on Msc or PhD have enough time to do their PhD and MSc research.
ASUU is another criminal in university system

90% of them are also lecturing in private school and the truth remain government can't enforce the no work no salary!!! But come to think of it The government should be blamed and not ASUU. why go into an agreement without an intention to keep to the terms of the agreement
OdogwuSam:
It's actually taking a toll on the lecturers themselves. This no work, no pay system adopted by the government has really done much harm to them.

I recently saw a video of a Dean of Student Affairs in one of the top universities farming. Members of ASUU need to get engaged in other things to survive.

Also, retailers and business people in these institutions affected by the strike are also affected.

Let him and his fellow thinkers continue on their micro level and make enough money from adequate jobs to pay off our debts and keep Bubu’s lazy youths busy to improve security and reduce population growth.
Let the micro thinkers continue to dominate public discussion. God is in control, because God is not in control of Britain and America where they think and work on the macro and micro, not so?

ASUU Strike affects the economy of the immediate community where a University is located.

If you are a student or lecturer affected by ASUU, you can make extra income by distributing past questions and study materials on Q and A App

Install the App on Playstore

If 20,000 students make a trip to the campus by public transport with an average of N200 daily, that's N4m.
If 20,000 students eat lunch at school at N200 daily, that's another N4m.
If 20,000 students photocopy 20 pages of document at N10 each daily, that's another N4m

By this, just 20,000 students inject N12m daily to the local economy.
During 3 months of strike, N1.08bn is lost by transporters, food vendors, business centres.etc.
Expand this to the actual number of students in the Universities in the country.

BUT WHO CARES?

ASUU should go and sit down

How much do they inject into the nigerian economy

They should be ashamed of themselves that britain does not recognize nigerian graduates

Can we produce paracetamol? Yet we have professors of pharmacy who wants more money

Graduates of computer science cannot even write a simple computer program

ASUU failed nigeria more than the politicians

It affects lecturers with integrity who don't involve in corrupt deals more than it affects students.
I know a lecturer who's married to a lecturer and the two are being owed by the federal government for two months since government imposed no work no pay on striking lecturers.

Nna eh! Federal government is absolutely indifferent about ASUU and Nigerian universities, to them ASUU can go to hell. What a country!

Look at the way they responded fast to airline issue..I wish the airlines can team up with ASUU for solidarity support and embark on strike.
tell us the reason for the strike?
Airliners said jet fuel rose from 200 to 900 Naira. There is a valid reason to intervene. As for ASUU what is the reason for their strike?
