Number one, won't the number of shirts sold reflect on the numbers sponsors will offer the club? It's not even difficult. The more shirts you sell, the more leverage you have in your negotiations with these sponsors.

Number 2, 10% of total money recieved from shirt sales is a lot. I don't know how many percent Man Utd gets, but Liverpool gets up to 15%. Depends on the negotiations.

Woodward cannot make any decision that would impact the Glazers’ end goal.

They were using those contracts to get more debts. That’s why they kept rewarding average players with bumpy contracts.

I don’t understand how you can absolve the Glazers of blame. They are meant to aim for both financial and sporting success.

Woodward might take majority of the blame but the Glazers have their share too. Your employer is failing in one of his most important roles but you keep him on for years until the whole club comes tumbling down. ONLY THEN do you end his tenure.

Funnily enough i have been criticising Woodward and the Glazers since about 2013-2014 here but anytime I criticised either of them nitrogen and other business magnates will be quick to jump to their defence. At that time Woodward was defended for doing a great job and it was wholly the fault of every successive manager.

Now that the shyte has hit the can and there is no hiding place and we need a scape goat we are now hearing it was all Woodward’s fault while the Glazers had nothing to do with it. Maybe if one of them had been smart enough to make the billions instead of just inheriting from daddy they would have been able to identify and curtail Woodward’s limitations.

AWB was not marketable at all. No skill apart from tackling. Not good going forward. Slide tackling merchant better suited to a bottom half team.
