Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday condemned the brutal killing of Debora Samuel, a student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State.

Samuel, a second-year student of the college, was killed on Thursday following an allegation that she had blasphemed Muhammad (SAW), the prophet of Islam.

Speaking at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the Vice President commended the Sultan of Sokoto, the State Governor and other leaders in the state for condemning the dastardly act, insisting that the perpetrators be brought to justice.

President Muhammadu Buhari has also condemned the killing.

In a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, President Buhari said the news of the killing of the young lady by fellow students was a matter of concern.

He, therefore, demanded an impartial, extensive probe into all that happened before and during the incident.

The President stated that Muslims all over the world demand respect for the holy prophets, including Isah (Alaihissalaam, Jesus Christ) and Muhammad (SAW).

He, however, explained that where transgressions occur, as alleged to be the case in this instance, the law does not allow anyone to take matters into their hands.

President Buhari stressed that religious leaders have always preached that it was not for a believer to judge the actions of another person and the constituted authority must be allowed to deal with such matters when they arise.

“No person has the right to take the law into his or her own hands in this country. Violence has and never will solve any problem,” he was quoted as saying in the statement

Yeah! This is the way it works, the VP cannot issue a statement before the president's issue one, he can only compliment the statement his principal's make, so those castigating him should try to know how governance works.

I have said it before and I will gladly say it again

An eye for an eye will make Nigeria a better place.

Lynching of Christian’s will never end as long as nothing is done to the evil perpetrators .

Maybe Muslims too should start getting lynched for talking ill about Jesus.
If we can't live in peace, what's the purpose of our union called Nigeria?
Deborah could v been arrested & investigated before any action.

I saw some Muslims' comments on facebook, i couldn't but shake my head. Those people (northern Muslims) are barbaric savages.
If Christians and other religions adherents begin to react in the same manner, the world will just turn upside down. In my area, there's one Imam that always insult Christians openly; he doesn't do it codedly. Yet, no one has ever attacked him. No one is even bothered about him.
The important question is, why should I be serving a god that can't defend himself?
I won't condemn Islam because I have many reasonable Muslim friends. They do come to our house for Christmas and new year festival, and I also do visit them for itunu and ileya festival (Salah). In fact, my dad was a Muslim and a majority of my family too, but at times, if you hear some Muslims talk, you will be scared.

This report is half baked @ MikoB

If he condemned it, the report his expected to have his words in quote. Otherwise this is just an attempt to make it seem he really condemned it when in fact we can’t find the words he used.

Is that why no one has from the south east has condemned the killing of Deborah?

Are trying to insinuate that pandonra Obi values the northern more than human life?
The igbos are predominantly Christians, yet no one from that hate filled region has come out to condemned that act. But are quick to blame osinbajo for speaking out late.

Something is wrong with you o.

All polithiefcians are the same.
To you, everyone saying the truth is saying it for either religious or tribal reason. Nigeria cannot progress with this mindset.
