Putin can't finish small Ukraine and has exhausted his military capabilities. It would be suicidal than to face either of Sweden or Finland. Best he can use is the nuclear weapon and multiple nuclear would land in Russia in return.

Let me educate you.

Ukraine is currently carrying out an offensive from the South of Ukraine....Kharkiv Is in the north of Ukraine....Izyum down to Donbas are wedged in the middle and Russia has control of that.

In order for Russia to ensure their objective in Donbass is achieved they needed to capture Kharkiv.

Now they have lost Kharkiv and thus Ukraine has now swung right to continue their offensive in izyum which once they succeed they would be smack upon Donbass.

They are currently pushing Russian forces back in Izyum as we speak because Russian reinforcements are not coming due to their switch to long range artillery attack preference.

The remaining Russian soldiers on ground would be overrun eventually.

There are only three main clusters of Russian troops in Ukraine now:

1. Kupyansk,
2. Severodonetsk,
3. Zelenodolsk,

these are the main places of the Russian offensive.

Russia's current attempt at Severodonetsk is a 3rd downscaling in a row of the Donbass offensive. First attempt to the South West of Izyum, failed. 2nd to South East of Izyum, likewise failed.

You should understand a tactical withdrawal when you see it. the Russian troops have been withdrawing with little fight. If Ukraine is winning then why is the US calling for a cease-fire? why is Macron telling Ukraine it would have to give up some of its territories?

(1)The Ukrainians never launched any successful counter-attack that helped them recapture territories around Kharkiv. Contrary to what's being touted around, some Russians units actually ceded ground voluntarily in tactical withdrawals to more defensible positions. The areas left by the Russians are what's now reoccupied by the Ukrainians and spurned as "recaptured".

(2)To be fair , the Ukrainians have reached the Russian boundary, BUUUUUUUUT the area "recaptured" is basically a tiny sliver of territory compared to what's still being held by the Russians.

(3) In a considerable area around same Kharkiv, the Russians just repulsed a Ukrainian push about a day ago.

(4) The whole "push" around Kharkiv is frankly considered strategically unimportant. Frankly it ties up Ukrainian units, preventing them from reinforcing beleaguered units in the East Donbass front.

Every time the Russian Army retreats from the failed takeover of a Ukrainian city, you guys try to convince us that the city was considered strategically unimportant. We know better, starting with Kiev. Which strategy includes retreating from the capital without leaving soldiers to occupy the entire city? Which Army would waste time and resources attacking cities that are ‘strategically unimportant’?
