I'm in the same situation right now, the only difference is that, you are abroad and don't care about anything and most importantly, doing well for yourself.

I lost my dad last month and what I'm seeing in my family is very strange, even my brother (same mother) has turned into a beast without control. my Dad did not write any will and whenever we sit down to discuss as a family, everybody will start shouting and the meeting will come to end without any meaningful discussion.

As for me,I have decided to let everything be for my safety, I don't even care if they gave me one plot of land from the many plots my father had,.


I will advise you to take things easy cos African witchcraft is real, don't stake your life on any inheritance, it's not worth it

When you get involved in polygamy often times even when native medicine is not your thing you might still get dragged into it.

I still marvel at an incident. Involving 2 brothers (same mother) one got offended by another and cut off his brother’s trouser leg but see how it plays out instead.

The mother took the culprit and my own brother to a juju house to find out who did it. She needed them to help hold the equipment which they claim should shake when they call the name of who don it.

By the time they came back they claimed ifa at the native medicine said Alhaja did it.

My stepmom chose the next morning to call out Alhaja for trying to kill her son. Next morning I was returning to Uni and was meant to take a taxi to Yaba bus garage from where I will take the luxurious bus to port harcourt. As a nurse, my mum was working Night Shift at the same Yaba area and was meant to meet up with me at the bus garage.

By the time my mum got home pandemonium has broken and all of them at home succeeded in even dragging my dad with them to another native medicine man and this time the next one said it is my mum remember she is the only one that is not there and he did not have to say it to her face.

Let’s just say the mother of the boy, her family and friends had to look for what they call a real juju strongman and they all got my mum to finance a trip to the next state ijebu ode for her to swear that she did not do it and if she did it they had a list of evil they want to happen to one of her children (they chose me) maka why me.

Although the 5th born, I was doing well first child to go to a federal secondary school and first to go to university so they want to cause maximum destruction even thou I did them no harm. That is what you get in a polygamous home. They don’t have money to feed themselves properly but they have money to be parading juju houses looking for what is not lost. Officially we were suppose to be Muslims but a lot of the juju men call themselves Alfa.

A lot of the Alhaja who own their own homes is not a coincidence. The wise ones once they finish having children will work hard make some money, build their own homes and find their peace. There is no divorce and no separation just peace.

We all need therapy for this country.

Bro, for the last time, I don't know your tribe but inheritance is not worth fighting for. we humans are naturally greedy and tend to accumulate things we/our grandchildren will not use. if I may ask, what did your grandfather keep for your dad? think about this question and hustle hard to keep things for your children, above all, don't marry two or more wives and see how God will bless you.

I don’t think you are getting the essence of the write up. We hope that when young men and women envision their life they have many facts to allow them make the best decision for themselves and their generation.

Exactly. This just sharing experiences for others to use in making decision. I have got only one wife and that is for life, especially when one is not married to a monster. Pls men and women, make the right decision.

My last family meeting was in April 2019 and at that time I came early and saw my half sibling Tinuke doing some ablution and incantation at the entrance of where we had the meeting. I made sure not to sit on the chairs she set up and resolved not to attend any other meetings in future. They never have money to eat but have money to destroy. All through the meeting she and her sister never contributed to the meeting (and they are the 2 eldest while I am the third) but were sniggering. From about July 2019 I have been sick and mobility challenged and left Nigeria. I continue to have my on and off days.

One of the units has a distress marking but the US sibling has been known to invite thugs to start acting like lagos building control and never pays a penny towards any improvement but we will cross that bridge when we get there as I have just told them to get a picture of the building control staff if they visit. Apparently they came at night which tell me it’s not building control.

I will paint the family home this year.

You only end up creating a toxic hostile environment for yourself and your children and in most cases, end up being neglected by your wife and kids in old age. By the time you die lonely and miserably, the wives and kids that didn't bother to check on you while you were old and frail will come like starved vultures and gobble down the property you worked your entire life for. I know this because I witnessed some of my grandfather's final years, it was very sad to see.

Built several and to date not personally received a penny cause I don’t need nor want it. Happy that those that need it get some succour.

It is the give back stage of my life even contributed 1.4m towards a road project so occasionally doing something at my family home is no skin off my teeth.

For a while this might be so until the children finish school and if they go abroad the children that can will take their mother abroad or rent an apartment for their mother if she wants or build and ask their mother to occupy.

That was why anytime I go home I kept asking my Dad and grandmother if they want to come spend some time with me because even more than my mum the 2 have done well by me but they kept saying no until 2000.

That was my position instead of selling the family home like some were advocating (some have trauma surrounding the family home because their mum was banished from here for whatever reason) sell all or sell none. We are now on a course to repair cos that is what the majority want.

It’s not necessarily the best thing to totally erase your roots and legacy it’s un African.

Why would you want your children's children to inherit trouble? Sell the gad damn thing.

My mum receives mine and all her children own during her lifetime.

Imagine, already dragging properties while the owner of properties was still alive. I can imagine the regret he must have been feeling while the scuffle was going on. May Allah continue to rest his soul

When men do this they créât situations where their wives get anxious when there is fear their provider might be no more.

My mum was a nurse and my Dad would not let her work but set up a small business so that all of them are at his beck and call. The food money he gives is about 1/3 of what is required such that the business never last.

How come that a man would be giving his wife loan of money to feed his children.

The wives get into their 50s, 60s and 70s and sometimes nothing to show financially for their journey through life cos the man made them destitute so he can control them. This ends up leading to anger and bitterness and being hypersensitive towards inheritance as their gain for the sufferings.

The senseless prodigal daughters ( Latifat, Habibat, Fatimat et al would rather destroy no 1 and sell no 50 to rebuild no 1. This is the type of warped and convoluted sense of reasoning one has to deal with hence i stopped attending their toxic family zoom since 2020 which has not achieved anything to date.

I just let my position be known and support and backup as necessary if a discussion on sale is being discussed sell all (then one does not have to deal) or sell none (not to erase my father’s legacy since our grandfather and great grandfather home is still standing).

They are even challenging the trustées.

Men be careful about polygamy especially when they were chased/abandoned from an earlier marriage. You just need one devilish woman and peace will evade your family because even their children become a poisoned chalice.
