Bauchi State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant Bala Mohammed yesterday said the success of Amotekun in the Southwest has dispelled the fear of restructuring.

He and Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal were in Gombe to lobby for PDP delegates’ support.

Mohammed said if elected President, he would embark on restructuring that will ensure devolution of power to the states and the local government to improve the quality of lives of the people.
“Some of these issues of mistrust and suspicion will be done away with if we discuss. Let’s take for example, the state police.

“It has nothing to do with shortchanging any section of the country; it is just about delegating power to the states.

“It has been done in the Southwest. The Amotekun is improving their quality of life. What has it got to do with encroachment on the power of the federation? Nothing.

“In fact it will reinforce the structure of the federal government because it will make life and property safe and secured and it will not remove anything from the federal government,” he said.

He said as a bureaucrat, he will bring his experience to bear, in terms of making good policies and programmes and will not be doing it blindfolded because he is tested and trusted.

Mohammed said: “I will bring policies and programmes that will create wealth, that will open up the economy, and that will look inward, rather than outward.

“That is what we need and I will do that with humility and with tact and knowledge.”
On the separatist agitations, Bala said he would make them see the futility of breaking away from the country.

“I will make them contribute even more to the centre. I will restructure the country, reinvent the country, reconstruct the country. In the sense that the periphery will be powerful,” he said.

Tambuwal said if elected as president, he would ensure protection of lives and property.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives Speaker spoke at the PDP secretariat in Gombe.

“I have provided all that needed to be provided for security agencies. So far, I have provided over 500 vehicles for the security agencies.

“Whatever support they require we give them. Under my leadership (as president), I will do all that it takes to support security services in the states.”

Tambuwal said as one who has transversed various communities in Nigeria, he has the magic wand to turn things around for the better.

“Poverty is all over and it is ravaging our land; we have the men, women, youth, we have the human resource and in Gombe we have the natural resources in abundance.

“Why are we wasting time to explore the oil that we have in Gombe and so many resources that we have underneath?

“Why are we not utilising the Dadin-Kowa dam that can generate hydro-electric,” Tambuwal said.

I hope I'm not the only one seeing this as a litre of kerosene and a congo of gari. Our security agencies need a lot more than cars to be effective.

Wonderful! Everybody now agrees that Amọtẹkun is a success.
Another reason to show that the leadership failure in the South East is what is responsible for where they've found themselves today.

When Western Nigeria Security Network started, there is nothing that Illiterate Peoples of Biafra won't call them, they said they were okay with ESN. Today, the same ESN is killing them like chicken.

Bottom line: tame insecurity when it has not become hydra headed.

I read somewhere that, the Ekiti Government has been owing Amotekun personnel in the state for some months now.

Unless some things are put in place, I don't think Nigeria is ready for state police.

South West leaders showed that restructuring is possible and Amotekun was never about the victimization of non yorubas in the south west but to help in curbing insecurity in the region which it has been doing fairly okay since it's inception in 2020 despite it's little budget.

Amotekun is just an example of how civilized people handle frustration.

I commend the SW governors for creating something like that within that short time and also commend the SW people for agreeing to make them work without foolishly antagonizing the government by supporting non-state actors.

God bless all the Amotekun officers.

The Igbo leaders are very useless. They should have quickly created a security network when their citizens were crying out for one.

He said he would restructure but did not say how or what he would restructure

How can he reach us when he's a front.

from my observation, it seems bala Mohammed is more capable and well prepared for presidency than tambuwal.

Terrence99:

Sorry o, Mr. Observer. Because of mere words. What has Bala Mohammed achieved in Bauchi? Tell us.

hello mr replier, as you can see, I am only trying to compare him with tambuwal since this report is about the two of them. I am not sure any of them will become president in 2023. Take it or leave it, power is coming back to the south.

Amotekun is seriously needed in the East especially in Anambra and IMO state, since the Ebubeagu/Ebubeaturu failed woefully.

Soludo the solution should employ Amatekun or bring back our Bakassi/Issakaba boys biko.

I laugh when some igbos call Yoruba different names cos we don’t do things like them

They should understand that we reason differently, fulani herdsmen were causing trouble in both region but south west gave it d best approach without blood shed but out of hate igbos created a menace n they are dealing with it now

That’s a subtle message to igbos that they should do their Biafra alone without including any oduduwa noise cos when we are ready we know d best approach without bloodshed
