We don't have enough Tanks, IFVs, Artilleries, , Mortar systems,Fighter Jets or Blue water capabilities. There's still a long way to go for the Nigerian military.

1. Found Bantu settlements in SA go as far as 200AD, it's a known history from all verified proven history sources.

2. Low population does not mean "vacant". The highvelds of Mpumalanga, Free State and the Northern Cape are still low populated, are they vacant lands? No, each-and-every inch of land is under the ownership of someone or entity. Same as back then, every piece of land was owned by a certain chiefdom, river-to-river. Vacant lands exist, but on Mars.

3. Dingani killed Piet Retief, it is valid. Do you know the words that Dingani gave before killing Piet Retief, you know " bulalani abathakathi or "kill the witches". Let me school you a bit, in IsiZulu, umthakathi (a witch) is someone who lies (fabricates, falsifies), manipulates and of course a sorcerer. So why did Dingani call Piet Retief a manipulator?

----------------------------------------------------------------

NB: Boers always claim to have found vacant lands in SA, but the same Boers also claim to have made treaties with the people they found on those lands. grin

1. What settlement and where?

2. So every inch of land back then was owned by a mere 1 million people?.... Please bru!! Be logical grin but let's use you logic for a second if every piece of land was indeed owned that means every piece of land was owned(by for exp the Khoi) before bantu settlers arrived in SA.... So why do Bantu settlers who did not originally own the land have more claim to it than any other?

3. My argument doest have much to do with Piet Retief but actually treaties of The Transvaal Republic with several Bantu tribes like the Pedi ect ect....it is due to some of these treaties that led to the formation of certain homelands in Apartheid... This is especially true with Lebowa since the pedi had treaties with the Transvaal since the mid to pate 1800s. Also Dingaan did meet his match a few weeks after killing Piet Retief.

P.S Finding vacate land and finding non-vacant land isn't mutual exclusive wink

Chinese Z-20 Helicopter.

Seeing the current arms embargo the Russians are likely going to face, Nigeria could consider this helicopter in the future.

Although, I seriously doubt the Americans would allow Nigeria purchase a copy of an American helicopter from China.

Yes, it is. The Nigerian military is slowly but surely building up military capabilities in priority areas.

The M-346F/A is by far the most significant Nigerian Air Force purchase. This aircraft will allow the Nigerian Air Force to retire the Alpha jets and L-39NG aircrafts that have served the Nigerian Air Force for the past 43 years.

When we add the various UCAVs we have, it gives the Nigerian military a decent strike capability.

grin they aren't retiring the A-jets or L39 soon
They'd be upgrading the L-39 with Genesys system
For the Alpha jet it's subject to upgrade too

All early model Alpha jets will be retired, only the units bought from the US will continue to fly once the M-346 attains FOC in Nigerian Air Force service.

Currently, only 3 units of L-39 have gotten Genesys upgrades, it is very unlikely that any more will receive that upgrade as the M-346 would render them into obsolescence.

Production of the Alpha Jets have since ceased, where do you think NAF will continue to source parts to keep them flying from?

i wish i still had the memo for NAF plans i wonder why they took it out of their site
Anyways according to the plans the L-39s will be upgraded
Of course Alpha jet production has stopped a long time ago but we still keep them in the skies because we've managed to source spares locally so IMO spares might not be an issue even the older versions are the ones being upgraded and brought back to life.
But according to the memo yep they'll retire sadly
Also does the Genesys upgrade put the L-39s on same level as the NGs

NAF @ 58 ANNIVERSARY: MINISTER OF DEFENCE SAYS IMPROVED SYNERGY HAS ENHANCED OPERATIONS

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 58th Anniversary celebration kicked off on a high note with the Honourable Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi(Rtd) stating that increased levels of successes by the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) can be attributed to the improved levels of synergy and cooperation among the Services, He stated this while declaring open the NAF Day Anniversary Celebration 2022 Seminar held at the NAF Base, Kano. The Minister also noted that the theme for the Seminar, ‘Enhancing NAF’s Operational Efficiency in Joint Operations for Effective Response to Contemporary National Security Imperatives’ was apt, as it would address operational challenges being experienced in the field particularly in the areas of air to ground integration and Unmanned Aircraft Systems optimization in the theatres. “That is why I believe that this Seminar could not have come at a better time as it will facilitate better use of airpower in the joint employment of our Armed Forces”, he noted. The Minster also stated that the despite its limitations, the NAF since its inception, has commendably carried out the core functions of protecting Nigeria’s air space and providing support to surface forces. In doing so, he noted, the NAF has always displayed the highest level of professionalism and shown great resourcefulness in the areas of manpower management, Research and Development and in air operations execution. Major General Magashi (Rtd) also reiterated the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration towards revamping the fortunes of the NAF and the AFN in general. According to him, ‘Today, the fleet of the Nigerian Air Force have been reinforced with several platforms which have improve its Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance as well as attack capabilities and extended the reach of the Armed Forces.” He then called on the NAF and the AFN to renew their commitment and determination to play their part in addressing the security challenges threatening the peace and progress of the Nation.

In his welcome address, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao noted that since assuming office, President Muhammadu Buhari has fully supported the AFN in general and indeed the NAF in particular to enable them achieve their set objectives. Accordingly, the Federal Government has committed substantial national resources to enhance the overall capabilities of the Armed Forces in a bid to addressing the security challenges in various parts of the country. This, he said, has not only succeeded in ameliorating equipment constraints experienced in previous years and the attendant implications of such constraints, but it has also spurred NAF personnel to be more committed to the decimation of subversive elements, who seek to undermine the peace, progress, unity and faith of Nigeria. Air Marshal Amao also stated that the theme of the seminar was timely as the seminar will enable the NAF appraise its current efforts while further repositioning itself to continuously project air power to definitively meet its constitutional mandate. He went on to state that the seminar stood out among other activities lined up for the celebrations as the deliberations were expected to produce tangible strategies going forward in NAF operations. Accordingly, he noted, one of the papers presented will address Air to Ground Integration and Operational Efficiency from a holistic perspective while the other will proffer ways of Optimizing NAF’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle operations for efficiency in joint force employment. He then expressed confidence that the discourse will spur better ideas for the NAF to be more effective in the discharge of its responsibilities.
The CAS then specially recognized and appreciated the unflinching support of the President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, without which NAF’s achievements would have been unrealizable. He also expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his continued support to the NAF in Kano and to the Special Guest of Honour, the Honourable Minister of Defence for his guidance and encouragement. The Seminar also had in attendance, senior military officers from the services headquarters as well as senior retired military officers.

He seems to be a UAV man!!

Anyway, why wouldn't you, especially seeing the war in Nargano-Karakbah, the war in Ukraine, developing Nations like Iran & Turkey, Russian air combat losses, UAVs are the future.

Infact we are even slow in developing our UAV capabilities, considering we were one of the earliest countries in Africa to deploy UAVs in 2002 - 2003 with the Aerostar.

I hope we get some solid UAVs from Turkey, while we build up our own domestic Surveillance capabilities.
