Looking at this picture, you can get a better understanding of my observation.

Futures.

They stake on your behalf. Eg you can use 100 dollars to buy 1000 dollars worth of tokens. X10

If each token is 10 dollars instead of 10 you get 100. Now for every 1 dollar profit you get 100 dollars instead of 10. Now for every 1 dollar loss you are supposed to lose 100 but you only staked 10. That's why your liquidation would be around 9 dollars. Hence -100% your 10 bucks is gone.
