Thats 30 million naira a year, lets be realistic, u earn more than 99% of Nigerians , you can live comfortably in most locations in d country, your kids can go to a good private school, u can afford an overseas trip, u can afford support staff( driver, cook, cleaner)... a lot of Nigerians would consider u rich truthfully speaking.

Know this and know peace, there are persons earning 500k who have achieved more than those earning millions and living better life's than what you mentioned.

Knowing your time matters most. Living an extravagant lifestyle doesn't make you rich, because deep down you lack management skills and in reality you keep going broke.

All what you mentioned earlier can be replaced and you still have a more comfortable life, cheaper.

Help me list just 10 common openings that pays above 500k in Nigeria.

I don't mean a proxy job or someone living outside Nigeria.

It's nothing for someone living abroad (some countries). But in Nigeria, you are a rich man.
U drive home d point.
Kudos to Ur powerful view

When you reach that stage , you will understand.

Few years ago, the highest money I spend on food at cateen was 500.
Today , I mostly eat in eateries which will cost me atleast 2500 per meal .
If I go two times that’s 5k X 30days ( 75k)
That is someone’s ‘good’ salary on food alone .

Before you add other bills like data, fuel, nepa, subription, family and friends , house rent etc,

The more you earn, the more your taste improves ..

I used to say I can’t use phone above 100k , I said after all phone na phone, today , infact my phone and laptop alone is a little less down a million,
This is not show off and that’s average and normal thing to do ..

And no matter how miserly and frugal you spend , there are some things that will improve about U, and mind you everyone has money draining habit in one way or the other.
It could be gadgets, cloth, jewelry, women, cars , food etc..
And don’t assume single people don’t have responsibilities, infact, bills they pay is more then what some marriage peeps pay.

500k is very very good for a single man in Nigeria regardless but can’t be considered rich .

Rich ke? If he’s the jaiye jaiye type, how much to remain .?
And life is not all about living miserly all in the name of savings. If you die, na people wey no work for your money go chop am clean mouth.

With 500k he’s better than most salary earners but in true definition of ‘rich’ , he’s not. He’s just maybe comfortable depends on the bills he pay .

May God lift up our hands
Hmmn!!!
Na wa oooo!!

Amen to your prayer bro.

500k a month is supposed to be average income for a middle class person in Nigeria not rich.

You are a middle class citizen especially if you are still single.

If you are single, the income that qualifies you as rich in Nigeria is 2.5million and above monthly take home.

If you are married, it means 3.5million and above monthly take home, anytime less means you are a middle class not rich.

But to be realistic, you are not earning badly based on Nigerian situation, but don't let that bobo you, you still have a long way to go cos I have an elder bro who works for a big multinational and he earns around 1.5m monthly take home and believe me, he is not close to others running their own companies and earning heavily, so he still sees himself as struggling.

Interesting take. How did you arrive at 2.5m? What factors or variables did you consider to get that specific number?

From experience, such steady monthly take home income as a single man in Nigeria will afford you most lifestyles that qualifies one as being rich; from 1 or 2 foreign vacation a year to acquiring your dream car after working for like 3 years to errecting your own duplex after 4 to 5 years on the job

The back and forth on this issue is laughable. It only speaks of the level of poverty in Nigeria that a person earning #500k per month should be considered rich. #500k per month does not make you rich in any part of Nigeria. Yes, you might be in the top 10%, 5% or even 1% of income earners in the country depending on your location but that's just because you live in the poverty capital of the world. An income of less N1.2m per month would be considered as low income in the US based on today's exchange rate. Some may argue that we live in Nigeria and earn naira, so dollar comparisons shouldn't be made. However, that line of thinking conveniently ignores the fact that almost everything we consume in this country is imported and paid for in dollars.

Being "rich" is a question of location...

If you reside in Banana Island, Lagos, your living expenses will piss on your monthly 500K...

If you reside in Ikeja, you're a "big boy" and if you don't allow those runs girls at Ikeja City Mall to milk you dry, you may afford to buy a Nigerian used small sedan without Police case...

If you reside in Mowe, Ogun State, you can talk about acquiring a manageable size of land and maybe have an uncompleted building to your name in like a year...

If you decide to live in Baruten, Kwara State (near Benin Republic), with your 500K, you can easily be crowned a King.
you are right

So I was arguing with a friend who stays in the states and he keeps saying I am a rich guy.

Current salary is about 512k per month (take home), and has an annual increment of 15% of your take home. This is aside perks of perdiem anytime I travel outside work base (15k per night).

Anytime he wants me to have minor something done in NG on his bahalf, he expects me to use my money and whenever I ask, he tells me not to complain that I am rich (he knows what I earn), I don't have a problem doing those things for him.

I don't see myself rich and pls guys, what can someone earn in Nigeria to be termed rich. Your opinions will count alot as I still find it hard getting the usual daily stuffs we all use.
I am not married and do not have responsibilities. My mom is a retired govt worker and other siblings are all working.

Cc: seun mynd44 pls help us for more audience and opinions

You are doing well I must say but that should not be regarded as being rich. Fundamentally, no salary earner is regarded as rich because you still depend on payslip to survive. You can start talking about riches when you have your own business or enterprise that is doing well without your presence. Riches are for those who keep generating income even while they are sleeping. It is beyond the scope of most paid jobs

Thank God you said most. There are people earning $100,000 and above tax free remotely in Nigeria.

Recently, we came across a Principal blockchian Architect who makes $30k per month. That's 15m per month and 180m per year. Shey that one still no rich abi grin

They both reside in Nigeria by the way cheesy

You people should take it easy with exaggerations pls...18million naira can get you a decent house in lagos , it depends on the location...the price of a five bedroom apartment in yaba is not the same as a five bedroom apartment in lekki....

For example a duplex sold for 50million in surulere will be worth 150million at lekki...the location also determines the value itself..

.it depends on the location...but you can get a decent house in lagos for 15million.....FACT!!!!!!!!!!Ask any genuine real estate agent around you.....

That is how someone told me you cannot get a land of 5million in lagos and I was like " who is lying to these people "....
I mentioned decent house. Of course, with 15 million, u can buy a house in Lagos suburbs.
