You're doing well. From what I have read and having followed closely, your relocation story is a motivation to many.

Your entries are enjoyable and rich in informed analysis at each of the occasions . They're interestingly descriptive and neatly written. Little wonder a follower asked if you studied English language grin.

Do not abandon us here please. I hope you leave no stone unturned in telling us how sweet your experiences have turned out to be. Although I also enjoy the second thread where you're doing a marvelous job too.

I hope you enjoy your stay and that you accomplish your goals and come back to your home country a fulfilled and happy man. Congratulations!

Lol. It's a Mormon thing.

OP nice thread. I understand the purpose of this thread is to document your relocation journey to the States, however, I feel you can also fill in some vital information for us.

You stated you're in tech, what area of tech are you in? Software Engineering, DevOps, Cybersecurity etc
Did you get a relocation job in Utah?

If yes, how did you get it? A generic information of the process might be nice, did you practice some DSA or what?

How long did the process take you? How much also?

Please help us. Because me personally, I dey plan this japa like 3 years from now. Canada and USA are my top choices.
Regards

Polygamy is not the same thing as partner swapping that these people are practicing. Perverts

It's all intertwined. Polyamory, Polygamy. They do it all.

It's deeply rooted in Mormon doctrines.

The guy is/was here to document his relocation.... not to be travel advisor . If you understand that you wouldn't be asking for such information. There are several threads for such matters... why not ask there?

Why not let him decide whether to answer the questions or not, rather than playing mouthpiece.

I specifically asked because I'm a tech person, which means his answers would be more personalised for me. Next time, kindly sit it out. (Politely). Thanks

My brother, if you can, leave. Nigeria isn't a real place. I hate to say it but you will only realise how much of a jungle Nigeria is when you move to where things work.

So far, I have gotten my social, got a credit card approved by Discovery, changed billing details to mine and done lots of stuff without having to leave my home, bribe someone or queue endlessly.

To be honest, I was quite indifferent the entire flight and wasn't moved about touring Turkey. I just wanted to touch down and pretend like I never spent a long time travelling. I guess it's because wifey packed heavy and I was dragging bags. With my current frame of mind now, I'm sure I could do all of that now but the opportunity has passed without a doubt.
I finally moved out of Nigeria and I don’t regret it.

In total, flight time from Turkey to JFK, New York was 10 hours via Turkish Airlines. For a Nigerian, I suffered because the choices of food weren't so good. First was "herbed yogurt and supposedly rice white minced beef and stuffed eggplant or aubergine" with another round of tomatoes salad and white cheese with some funny vegetable that gave me an instant OBE when I tried it cry. Iya yii po.

The second was fair; Zucchini Pasta with tomato sauce, which almost everyone on the plan requested, including myself. The vegetables were basically the same for both menus. About 15 Turks and Americans combined lined up before the lavatory after eating. Yours truly joined the queue cry

Immigration experience at JFK was almost unbelievable. We were attended to in less than one minute and queue time was about 6 minutes maximum.

We connected to the JFK WiFi immediately we landed and it didn't require your passport to use it. It is not passworded and connection is instant. In the space of about 15 minutes spent at the airport, I did about 40 GB download. The speed was insane.

Finding our luggage was easy and simple and it costs $6 to use cart. The process is automated as opposed to the N500 experience at the MMIA and ticket you would get after.
Oh, wow! I was going through my older NL moniker from the late 2000s and while searching for a
Nigerian wartime history video you once shared with me, I just realised that @Sanchez too has relocated to Yankee (Eko si Yankee). Welcome to America bruv and Stay Safe with your fam.

Take note to also diversify your income streams because the U.S. economy [in terms of GDP] has contracted for 2 consecutive quarters in 2022, so expect the impact of a full-blown recession from January 2023. Just like in the 2008 recession, there's already a spike in crimes with car catalytic converters being stolen, wrist-watches being snatched, folks buying pre-owned cars instead of new cars, etc, even before a full U.S. recession. Same is happening in the UK, France, etc. These facts are based on official data. It's the usual effects of business and economic cycles.

So if you are prepared you will not be negatively impacted. Get some certified training on how to trade
online in the global financial
markets and this will bullet-proof the personal finances of folks who have the skills.

A very detailed travel thread.

All the best. smiley

Sanchez01 it’s great to see you moved out. Was really enjoying your intelligent comments in Household thread. Another talent leaves Nigeria for a hopeful better clime. I’m right behind you (japa’in soon) though I’m actually a returnee from several years abroad. I tried to love it here in Nigeria but got stoked (the opposite actually) with all that’s been currently happening. So I’ll be off soon too. Don’t think I’ll create a thread though cos it won’t be the same excitement like before. And just to add for anyone who’s traveling through turkey. If you get the transit visa, you could actually get on a tour of Istanbul if the connection time is quite long (I can’t remember if it was free when I last connected through Turkey on my flight to Nigeria). But it was worth it, got to see the Dolmabache palace, Bosphorus bridge among others. Cool stuff.
