Upload the invoice you generated from the intermediary financial institution your school uses eg Flywire, CIBC, PayMyTuition, etc.

How many years program did you apply for? Did you pay any tuition deposit?
It is a 4 years program and I didn't pay any deposit except the mandatory 500 CAD
and my school you have to register for course first like you may not have to offer all courses

I don Dey fear o sigh.
Wetin concern them if person family no dey Nigeria again.
geotherm:
My Sister got a refusal letter: I have applied for GCMS. Two reasons:
1. Financial status and Asset: she paid half of the tuition $10k and showed statement of account N3.5m. I guess these are not enough. For assets she showed landed asset with no valuation.
2. Family ties in Canada stronger than that of Nigeria: Her husband and son are not coming with her, so what other family ties. Yes she has 3 brothers and a sister in Canada.
Application Date 17th February, upfront medical, new portal, Nairobi visa office, refusal letter today.
I need suggestions while I wait for her GCMS.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Uzoamaka123: 8:42pm On May 30, 2022
Is employment letter, study leave letter and a fashion business enough to show ties in Nigeria when one’s family are in the US?
bullstriker:
A bank statement of 3.5M is insufficient for proof of fund, even if you have paid your tuition fees. In addition, fixed assets cannot be should as proof of fund.

Having siblings in Canada is a drawback, but I have had clients who have family members and yet got their study permits. Let her focus on writing a convincing SOP outlining her ties in Nigeria. In addition to her family, she can add assets and letters from her employer stating she is going on study leave and any association she belongs to.

Did you submit your own statement?
Does your sponsor have dependents ?
Morenikeji25:
Good evening guys, please I just joined Nairaland and it is my first time here I got my refusal letter today based on the reason below based on financials and asset I have ordered my notes and I will re-apply I think the problem is based on finances guys I will need your help so much if anyone can please I beg you reach out to me.

My tuition fee for a year is 20k CAd and my sponsor had 40k CAD I also didn't use a 3rd party sponsor.
Please what did I do wrong??
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by geotherm: 9:16pm On May 30, 2022
Thank you for your contribution, we will do better with the pof. her siblings in canada are 1 citizen, 1 PR and two TR. We thought her husband and son and landed property was sufficient as home ties, apparently it is not.
Toceen2022:

Sorry about your sister's refusal, it's just temporary. She should refire after addressing the VO concerns

1. The amount shown was not reasonable enough. With half tuition at $10k, the remaining half will be in range of that ₦3.5m (which is $10k). That means no money for living expenses... So, let her show about ₦7m above.

2. The 3 brothers and a sister, are they citizens, PR or on temporary residence status?
For temporary status, it will be easy to address. But if they are PR or citizens, she'll need to spend more time explaining and developing more home ties that outweigh their permanent status!

Did she declare the siblings in canada ?
If she did ,did she explain strong ties to Nigeria
Does she have travel history to capitalize on that she always came back and never over stayed ?
Thanks for your contribution. Yes she declared all her siblings in Canada, she has strong ties in Nigeria, her son, husband and landed property. She has never traveled out.

That’s the reason for my question, coz I intend returning during scheduled breaks and I have a child and spouse who are not accompanying.

Hello quine9.

Your case looks similar like mine. Please what age is your son? I mean the one that got VV with you

This question? Unfortunately no one has an answer. Timelines shared on this platform shows that it can last for a day, weeks, months or even a year. Keep holding up...

Awas:

please how long does eligibility review last . Mine is over a week now and still waiting....
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by Chuksiesmom: 10:19pm On May 30, 2022
Age is not a factor. You just have to give reasons for the study gap.

Your son is your dependant so the duration of his visa is not an issue, na VO discretion and with your study permit of 2 years you can extend his visa in Canada, he's also entitled to attend school and your spouse an open work permit.

Sha make sure you have visa before you go on yr vacation o, as your study permit won't allow u in

geotherm:
Thanks for your advice and input. The landed document was just for asset and that is the only asset she has. I agree with you the 3.5 million is small, we will work on that. Do you have a sample of SOP? This time we will get a study leave letter from employer.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by bullstriker: 11:13pm On May 30, 2022
Did your son do medical? If no, then it is most likely to do with medical. To stay more than 6 months in Canada, you must undergo a medical examination.

Don’t let this bother you. You can extend your son's stay by applying for a visitor record

quin9:

I know this,his passport expires in 2025
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by bullstriker: 11:18pm On May 30, 2022
There is no specific answer to this question. One visa officer might deem it enough, and another might not. They look at different aspects of an application to determine ties.
To stand a good chance, ensure that your application is strong in every area, not just home ties.

I am agitated. It has been over 6 weeks since I received a medical request and over 5 weeks since my medical was updated. How long have you been waiting?

Mine is the opposite. I've passed every section except medicals and I've been waiting for medical update since February. It's been 3 months and two weeks.

I got my request since October and have been requested to offer additional information twice. You'd think that the waste of time on their part would make me eligible for a quick processing after submitting the additional information but here we are.

If you think it's bad, it can always be worse.

what do you mean? Does that mean you cannot visit Nigeria if you are studying and your student visa is still valid?

Your chances are the same as those of anyone under 30.

Age is not a limiting factor. The relationships between your work experience, profession, reason of study and how well you link everything together among others are the things that determine the chances of visa approval.

I think what @Blessed451 is saying is that you should ensure your visa is still valid and has not expired before you leave Canada, so you don’t have issues getting back in.

Visas and study permit both serve different purposes. The student visa grants you access to board the plane and enter Canada while the study permit legalises your stay.

Don’t forget that a fresh interview would always be conducted each time immigrants get into the country despite exiting the country with legal papers, so you would face the obvious questions again . Why are you coming into Canada?, How long are you staying? Etc.

The officer expects you to be in school studying, so you have to prepare your responses in case the line of questions rally rounds the reason for exiting Canada, duration of absence from school and the date you decide to get back into Canada.

Thanks for your contribution. Yes she declared all her siblings in Canada, she has strong ties in Nigeria, her son, husband and landed property. She has never traveled out.

Her funding is too low. As others have suggested, it only covers her tuition. What of her 10k living expenses? What of money for her family in Nigeria?

She needs to show she can afford the program without her family suffering. It is hard to get visa without extra funds when you married with kids, even if family will stay in Nigeria.

Home tie is also more than socio. There is also the economic part depicted by good and well paying job. Does she have that currently? If yes, did she submit evidence of her employment?
