Your job location should naturally determine where you will be staying. Get a job first and try to cope with whoever you are squatting with.

Above all be careful how you spend the money you have at hand. Nothing is predictable these days.

Bro they are people with heavy hard mind. Though i really appreciated him accommodating me for few weeks to one month but he started acting this terrible after the food stuffs and money i came with from Lagos got finished.
He'd invite his sis who got her own personal lodge at front gate to Come sleep in his lodge I have to seat down outside all night until next morning sometimes just not to inconvenience him and his sister or friends.
I just couldn't take it anymore and had to move to my village and stay until i was able to raise 40k for a lodge.
After i came back he knew i got some money with me and told me to pay him 50k or 40k so we turn to roommate and share house rent after that.
Just thanked him and took my luggage and left.
I won't treat my enemy that way. It was extreme.
Even neighbors and friends who lives around then noticed it.

Well I have a suggestion/strong advise for you. Do not make a mistake of getting accommodation before getting your stance in a strange city(to you though). Consider two things
(1) what if you get an accommodation then you get a job offer only to realize that the job location is not favorable in terms of proximity? (You will end up paying them instead of getting paid)
(2) you got the accommodation then you get exhausted financially then you can’t afford the logistics to go for interviews or even eat a good food. Think man

He should manage for few month and endure the discomfort.
What if he gets a House in Ikeja in or Egbeda for instance and move in.
Then get a desired job in VI or in Mile 2 or Festac? Can he cope?

He should get a job, that would give him a direction on where to rent a house.

Cleo, I implore you to stay where you are for now. Cyber Security is a good one, is it an online or a physical training? How long will it take for you to get certified? Is it after certification that you intend to apply for jobs or you are actively sending job applications now? I think you should start from there. In the meantime, try to get familiar with your environment, don't keep late nights and please stay out of trouble. Try to endure, be cautious, plan your next move and work towards it. Good luck!

Manage where u re staying and get a job first. you won't be comfortable at first!
You might not easily get a job after renting an apartment, and hunger go wire ur brain, unless u have a backup

So far you have a temporary roof over your head, mange and endure it for the meantime. Squatting with people whether friends or family is never easy. You will go through a lot but you have to endure because it won't last long. So get a job first before you decide to rent your own apartment. Your job location determines your residential area.

He's started sending applications for job adverts. He was offered a job actually but the salary would be based on target met monthly. Any month he meets target (marketing job), he would get paid, else no salary for the month. He doesn't like marketing and target job. So he's not yet decided if to accept it or not.

I can see you've spoken out of experience. I think I would advise he gets a very cheap apartment. He has about N1million saved like he informed me.

Staying with someone is not really easy and their squeezing of face unnecessarily can make one uncomfortable. You know, there's an expiry date for every welcoming period and a good visitor should know when his welcoming period is over.

Again, I think he would spend more squatting with people than renting his own cheap apartment. Money he should use in supporting where he's squatting should be used in renting a cheap apartment. This is because if he must squat with anyone, it would be expected he contributes to the feeding and paying of other bills, this would still not stop the host from squeezing face and making the guest uncomfortable.

Everyone needs a peaceful and convenient place to think straight.

I am just scared he might not get job on time due to the high rate of unemployment in the country.

If the marketing job doesn't sit well with you, you can keep applying for other roles advertised by various organizations, hopefully you get some positive feedbacks. Oh the training is for 2months, virtual right? that's okay. I have a hunch that you want to be in your own space(for the sake of your sanity) before the training starts.

Well, since it's pretty urgent, start now to scout for an apartment. Keep in mind that there will always be options so the onus is on you to work around your budget such that you'll have some money left to cover your feeding & other expenses, pending when you get a better job offer and for the period of time the training will last.

N1m may feel like a very lump sum breathing in that bank account of yours but if you jus commot 1k, my brother ah say you go start to dey analyze how 7digits take enter 5digits within a short while, time go begin dey crawl like snail and you nur go still understand as the thing take go.
