EBMedia:
Popular Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye has said no one is allowed to visit his house or office without a Permanent Voters Card(PVC), IGBERETV reports.

According to him, Nigerians including his management team and entourage must get it right this time by voting out bad leaders.

He wrote on Twitter;

Good move.

All this craze for PVC shows you all have learned nothing and you need to continue suffering until you learn. When OBJ contested after being released from prison we all shouted get your voters card and vote for OBJ he will do this he will do that. Una mumu mode activate sharperly and una vote in OBJ. OBJ entered and trampled on the middle class and the poor. He raised VAT, sold Nigeria's core refinery and supervised one of the craziest heist in the power sector known as NIPSS. Some in his defense will say he brought GSM but has GSM raised millions of Nigerians out the trap of poverty? No. The same OBJ, in whom we thought we could see a father entrenched the "do or die" style of politics and used it to bring in Yar'Adua and GEJ. The election was massively rigged despite you all getting your voters card. Yar'Adua died, GEJ contested for the presidency. GEJ told you all that he didn't have shoes and in him you saw the deliverer of Nigeria. You all trooped out like nama to vote for GEJ. You all were shouting get your voter's card as you are shouting now. GEJ won, Nigeria made billions from crude oil sales and all the money vanished into thin air. GEJ's presidency was a free for all looting spree. Everyone that knew someone that had a connection with someone that occupied a position of power in GEJ's regime looted. The looteratti continued until the crude oil prices plummeted and the underbelly of the beastly regime of GEJ was exposed. Even Okonjo Wahala could not contain the wahala that the looteratti were bringing her way. Buhari came as the replacement for GEJ. The no nonsense general who we thought would straighten out Nigeria. Again Nigerian citizens like mindless robots trooped out to vote in Buhari, with chants of "sai baba", and chants of "change". Now the change is here. No electricity, no energy self sufficiency, no solid foreign reserves, poor quality of life, no security, chronic import dependence, insurgency, etc. Now you fools are at it again, shouting for people to go get their PVC. Your PVC cannot change anything. Peter Obi cannot save you. Peter Obi is one man. Atiku will further atikulate the treasury as he has no plans for the poor. Tinubu will entomb Nigeria as he did Lagos. You guys should wake up. Your power is in the mobilization of likeminded people. The EndSARS protest was a testament to what Nigerians could accomplish by mobilising like minded people towards achieving a common goal. If we band together again, this time not to fight the police but to govern ourselves, ensure security by ourselves, fix infrastructure by ourselves etc we will render the government useless and with one master stroke we can unseat the government and entrench a true republic. Your salvation is not in a PVC. Your salvation is in working together with your neighbor. One will chase a thousand, two will chase ten thousand.
You spoke well
But how does capitalism thrive when they are still affected by government policies. Buhari showed us that clearly.
We know we've made mistake in the past, but that's what great people do, mistake marks the path of greatness. No nation gets it right the first time. We voted these previous people with emotions not logic, if you don't want Peter obi who at least has shown concern for the younger generation, is it atiku or osinbajo you want. If Peter obi wins, it's not only going to be about whether he enacts changes or not. It will be more about the fact that the youths wanted a particular candidate and even without being part of the ruling party, he still won the election, that's what matters. I can earn in dollar in Nigeria, but insecurity won't let me enjoy my money. Government policies still affect you one way or the other

Someone said something that's right and important at this time in our nation.... Rather than encourage him and his likes to do more, Mumu people are rather talking down on him and giving silly advice.

We need more sensible people to get their pvc so we can vote in the right people.
Poverty never reset their brain, imagine mumu saying our vote doesn't count, the same vote that bought Buhari to power in 2015, the same vote that gave Soludo power with APGA, for me I dun kuku plan my escape route....immediately we get it wrong this time around piam I don japa.....so he go remain those wrong chooser to wail in emptiness.
Our vote doesn't count is what our parent have been saying....you can see where that has brought us....until people tell me the other solution aside voting...I will see no brain in their skull.

All those shouting "Get your PVCs" are delusional. The number (population) of voters is never the problem. The choice voters make is the problem.

If only ten persons vote and the majority (at least six) of the ten persons vote wisely, good leaders will emerge.

If 100 billion persons vote and majority of them vote foolishly, bad leaders will emerge.

If number of voters is the problem, the northern region will be a paradise because that region usually gives a very high number of votes.

I do not discourage people from getting PVCs. But I put it to you that number of voters is not among the major problems. Rigging is a bigger problem than low number of voters. The moment INEC was challenged to provide 2019 election data in court, the case died off. This shows Atiku got more legitimate votes than Bubu. Would you blame the 2019 result on those who did not vote? Also, what about the case of Imo state where someone who came 3rd or 4th in an election later became the governor? Is low number of voters responsible for that?

Number of voters only favours tribalism. And tribalism is not good in politics. A good leader is good to all tribes. A bad leader is bad to even his own tribe. Each tribe is clamoring for PVCs just to possibly make its son the president. Igbo people are shouting PVCs to ensure Obi wins. Yoruba people are shouting the same thing to ensure either Tinubu or Osinbajo wins. Northerners are doing their own thing to make a northerner the next president. Analysts say Obi is the best candidate. But only few from the South and the North are drumming support for him. Most of his supporters are Igbo people. This means the North and the South will likely vote against him. Can votes from Igbo people alone outnumber the votes from the North and the South? Remember how Igbo people chose Atiku but the votes from the North and the South helped against the same Atiku. Do you now understand why and how voters' choice is more consequential than voters' population? Increase in the number of voters cannot solve the problem when tribal sentiment is ruling.

If voters vote wisely, a good candidate will win and treat everybody well even if the majority of the voters are not from his own tribe. If voters vote foolishly, a bad candidate will win and treat everybody bad even if majority of the voters are from his own tribe. Bubu is a proof.

I repeat, I do not discourage people from getting PVCs. I myself have my own PVC. But let us understand PVC is not the major problem.

So why attack those clamouring for PVC?
It's a process, PVC first, support the right candidate via proper sensitization, vote the candidate...believe God for victory.

Let me pretend I didn't see your childish insult.

Lack of PVC has never prevented an election. There are always enough PVCs for elections. The major problem lies with the choice made by PVC holders. You deserve the insult because you saw where I wrote that I have PVC and you also saw where I wrote I do not discourage PVC, yet you went ahead to sound as if I am against people getting PVCs.

Getting Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is not enough.

Voter card is important. But voter card cannot solve the problem in Nigerian elections. The choice voters make is the problem. If only ten persons have PVCs and the majority (at least six) of the ten persons votes wisely, good leaders will emerge. If 100 billion persons collect PVCs and majority of them votes foolishly, bad leaders will emerge. “Get your PVCs” is the only piece of advice trending. Why are we not talking about the tribal, religious and nepotic factors that have always jeopardized our political progress?

When a wrong ideology dominates the society, increase in the number of PVC holders can only result in more votes for the wrong candidates. A situation in which electorates’ choices of candidates are always based on tribalism and nepotism, how can PVCs guarantee good governance for the country? Number of PVC holders only favours tribalism and nepotism. It does not influence voters’ choice of candidates in elections. And tribalism is not good in politics. A good leader is good to all tribes. A bad leader is bad to even his own tribe. If electorates vote wisely, a good candidate will win and treat everybody well not minding how many votes he got from other tribes. If electorates vote foolishly, a bad candidate will win and treat everybody (including his own tribe) bad even if most of his votes came from his own tribe. Jonathan and Bubu are proofs.

Each tribe is clamouring for PVCs just to possibly make its son the president. Igbo people are shouting PVCs hoping it will make Obi win. Yoruba people are shouting the same thing to give victory to either Tinubu or Osinbajo. Northerners are doing their own thing to make a northerner the next president. Some analysts say Obi is the best candidate. But only few persons from the South and the North are drumming support for him. Most of his supporters are Igbo people. We are in a world where majority of youths abandon their own brains and rely on the brains of social-media influencers. How many social-media influencers of Yoruba and Hausa origins have aired support for Obi? This means majority of northern and southern youths who have PVCs will likely vote against him. Can votes from Igbo people alone outnumber the votes from the North and the South? Remember how majority of Igbo people chose Atiku but the votes from the North and the South worked against the same Atiku. Do you now understand why and how voters' choice is more consequential than voters' population?

Also, what about the perennial constraint to free-and-fair elections in Nigeria? Having PVC cannot help Nigeria when electorates do not have the safety to exercise their franchise. A situation where armed deadly thugs disrupt elections, how can “Get Your PVCs” save the nation?

Rigging and prejudice are other problems bigger than low number of voters. Whether 2019 national election victory was by legitimate votes or by illegitimate votes is still an unanswered question. Between those who misused their PVCs and those who had no PVC to vote, who are responsible for 2019 election result? Also, what about the case in Imo State where someone who came 3rd or 4th in an election later became the governor? In the Imo case, the figure used in court does not correspond to the figure provided by INEC. Is low number of voters responsible for that? How is getting PVCs the major problem?

I do not discourage people from getting PVCs. I myself have my own PVC. But as we encourage people to get PVCs, let us not ignore other things that deserve our attention.

You are the parrot without human brain. That is why you did not see where I said I have my own PVC. That is also why you did not see where I said I do not discourage people from getting PVC.

The Nigerian political system is a DNA transforming entity. It transforms saints into dullards or villains. Our messiah will not come from the youth because even the youth have been corrupted. We need a system that ensures checks, balance, incentivizes creativity and stamps out impunity. We cannot trust one man to build such a system because we cannot trust any Nigeria to build a system that could one day turn around and bite him. No thief will support the building of the best security systems.

We have to return to the model of our forefathers. We have to return to an altruistic communalism. The government or the cabal can stop one man or one president but it cannot stop the combined force of millions of Nigerians mobilized to address issues common to them all. Any attempt by the government to stop a well coordinated mass movement will result in a war.

I can assure you that we can get millions of poor and middle class Nigerians to agree that: poverty, insecurity and infrastructure are the core concerns affecting most people in the poor and middle class. Now do we need a government to contribute to a fund; populate a register of the unemployed and underemployed; invest in sustainable industries like food/cash crop farming, livestock farming, tech, etc; build open learning institutions where those who have been marginalised can acquire viable skills and build a potent communication system? No we don't. These politicians can do this but they would rather use 100million naira to buy presidential form.
