Yes, the contact details attached to that job are all private details, no website address or contact number of the company advertising for the job.

Oh I see.
That was a pretty good temp opportunity advertised by a connection on LinkedIn. There was no Web address info that came with it.

How do you know that it’s a real good job opportunity?

Just a fair assumption made based on the person who posted it, a former CIO at different NHS trusts.

Has anyone switched from a Dependant visa to Tier 2 here recently? Did you have to write UKVI ielts for visa application?

Oga Lexus, months ago you advice us to always report our rent that it helps build credit score. Ditto, I’ve been doing that since about 6 months now, I also enrolled myself to the electoral register…

Some weeks back, I got a mail from Creditkarma that my score increased with 8+ and I was happy even though the total score is about 533 grin grin grin ( please don’t laugh )….

What came as a shocker to me now is that another mail came today saying my score has been updated or something, then I went to check, lo and behold, 13+ had been taken from my credit score…. I was wondering what could have happened??

Two things crossed my mind…. 1. I just just moved house few days ago and I updated everything that has links to my new address, even the electoral register, banks and everything….

2. I went to Lloyds bank to switch my account from Barclays, I wasn’t told there would be a hard search on my credit file, while I was with the bank assistant, I just received a notification that a search has been made… Within the minute, the bank assistant told me the application to switch bank and getting a bonus switch of £150 has been declined… I just left the bank not knowing they’ve ripped my credit score that I’m managing to build little by little…

I’m not happy like this

Moving house and switching banks do affect credit score, this is from personal experience. It takes at least 6months to get your score back to what it was before those changes

Good morning everyone and thanks for the updates here. As a prospective UK student, I wish to be tutored on the following:
1. What document is required from Nigeria that will be of use to get a UK driver's license? Is the international driver's license issued in/from Nigeria recognized & of any use to be able to drive in the UK until the UK own is issued.
2. Which bank will you advice for one to open & operate an account with?
3. Best mobile operator that has the cheapest rate & wide coverage.
4. Does applying for loans (Lendwise for example) from Nigeria have any impact on the possible outcome of a student visa application?
Thanks in advance.

Credit scores aren't much of a determinant for anything don't worry too much about the fluctuating scores, it will settle with time.
I'd advise you leave your first UK bank account open even after opening a new bank account.
The age of your oldest account is quite useful i.e the older the better.

1. Don't bother with international license, if you're coming as a student. Jejely go to a driving instructor and take a few lessons then get UK license
2. Bank offerings are almost identical, for high street banks I prefer Natwest or Barclays. It'd be easier to open one of these new gen banks like monzo or wise to start with.
3. Pick a cheap and dirty sim when you arrive first. Giffgaff, lycamobile etc. Find what works in the area you're going to settle in and switch if need be.
4. UKVI does not do a credit search on you before giving you visa, however, UK is experiencing a surge in the cost of living. Plan appropriately before using a loan to come in as a student. You're not going to magically get a job to wipe off your loan and cover living costs very easily, else you'll end up skipping classes to hustle.
3.

What's been the exchange rate of recent?

This has always been my concern. I eventually used my USD card to withdraw Pounds today, and it was bad.

For context, I withdrew 250 quid, and 357.82 USD was debited from my account. The difference is too much.

The exchange rate was pegged at £1:$1.4088. Access fee was charged at £3.99. Then they added a "Mark Up" fee of 12.8%.

Is this a normal experience with exchanging USD to GBP via a Nigerian issuer?

Solumtoya:

Oh, I see! Well, what I do in that case is: Send Naira to my aboki and he credits my Access Bank USD Account with Dollars, then I use the Debit card of that USD Account and withdraw Pounds from the ATM.

Thanks so much for the response.
I'll try and work with the kind suggestions here.
Hot tips on where is best to stay, I'll be attending Univ. of Westminster. I need areas where proximity to school and easy connection to main transport hubs, school for the kids & ofcourse, hustle.
Thanks as always.
