Ola76421:TABLE OF CONTENT. 1. BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENT page 2. 2. SOP page 3. 3. Fixed Deposit Certificate page 4. Do alignment and justification to your texts/fonts as they do in normal table of contents in many of the books we do read. |

ShowYoung:Thank you @showyoung I did try that but it declined my card. I guess debit cards are not accepted on those notes sites or is there any other way to go around it? Thanks |

RothimyZ:Don't use Naira, keep it at USD, it works but with some extra charges. |

| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by ShowYoung: 9:10pm On Jun 12, 2022 |
RothimyZ:Please use your debit card and pay in USD instead. The USD equivalent is $9.77. The limit set on your debit card is $20 per month. This will work if you haven't used up your monthly $20 FX allocation. |

Hello guys. Is the Visa SOP required when applying for a study visa in Canada? I'm curious because I didn't write a statement of purpose before being accepted to the University of Ottawa. Thank you. Little background: OND Marine Engineering here in Nigeria, then got accepted Honours Bachelor Physics Fall 2022 in Uottawa |

Teemenzo:Thank you @Teemenzo I just tried it, it still didn’t go. I got “card declined” error message. I used access Visa card. Anyone knows how I can resolve this or help me order so I can pay the naira equivalent? |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by RothimyZ(m): 9:40pm On Jun 12, 2022 |
ShowYoung:No, I haven’t done any FX transaction on my card in the last one month. My card was declined even after changing to $. I also tried on some other notes site I keep getting similar error message. I notice only credit card, PayPal and co are listed but no debit card.could this be the reason? |

Hello Everyone, I studied Mechanical Engineering in my first degree...graduated with 2.1 in 2009. I have also done my master degree still in Mechanical Engineering. However, after my undergraduate program, I got a job as a cybersecurity officer in a Bank and I have been in the banking industry ever since. I have done some information security certifications like Sec+, CEH, CISM. My problem is that I am confused on what part to follow; 1. Should I start from Master Mechanical Engineering 2. Should I go straight for PhD 3. Or should I continue with Cybersecurity? I got some information that it would be difficult to get VISA if I go for Cybersecurity because it's different from my first degree..."Lack of career progression". Please I need guidance from experienced members |

DaCrypto:I will first ask, when did you graduate from your MEng.? 1. Not necessary. 2. You can go for a PhD in Mech Eng. or related course if your chances of getting admission are high considering your grade and year of graduation. 3. Your work experience overrides your academic qualifications considering your years of relevant work experience as a CyberSecurity professional. You could go for CyberSecurity. Lack of career progression is when you don't do things that will likely contribute to your promotion in your career. Going for CyberSecurity is a career progression. Your work experience is your new reality. Your educational qualification doesn't define you as you have not been practising Mechanical Engineering. Lack of academic progression is doing things that do not relate to your prior academic field. This is against those who don't have job experience at all and want to go for a course of study that is entirely different from their former education. This does not concern you because you have some years of work experience. Kindly let us know the last time you studied (year of graduation of your MEng.) |

Oremeter:SOP is your only way to explain to the VOs your situation as regards many factors such as Home Ties, Financial Status and Personal Assets, Career or Academic Progression, reasons for wanting to study the course among many others. If it were to be the US visa, for example, you would be called for an interview, but Canada does not do interview: SOP is your only way to convey your message. |

ShowYoung:Thank you so much for the feedback. I graduated in 2009 and finished my M.Eng in 2015. I have over 8 years working experience. No experience whatsoever in Mechanical Engineering. So my fear is, ... If I switch back to Mechanical Engineering, won't they be like "you love Mech so much why no working experience?". And how do I convince them in my SOP. A mentor over there in Canada is the person that adviced against Cybersecurity. Said many of his friends have been denied because they are coming to study something else. So MSc Cybersecurity or PhD?? |

DaCrypto:Friends situation may be different from yours. According to my experience, while PhD Mech. Eng. will also work, it is my belief that MSc CyberSecurity will convince the VO more. Another thing is you should know what you want. Your statement of purpose will do the job. The SOP for PhD will be different from that of MSc CyberSecurity. |

Good evening house and gurus I hold a HND in Architecture 2008(2.87 CGPA), ND in Architecture 2005(2.65 CGPA), working in architecture and construction related field though in a federal security agency for over 10years. Please kindly advise on what programs of best fit and colleges for me outside pure architectural courses. And hope I should go for PG certificate or PGD right? Thank you for your kind suggestions. |

DaCrypto:Lack of career progression? The MSc Cybersecurity is actually more of a progression in career than the Phd Mec Eng since that’s the field you’ve been working in since graduation. At this point in your case, work experience supersedes your first degree. Job in cybersecurity in a bank and wants to go for Msc in cybersecurity is more like you want to gather more knowledge regarding your job field which is just perfect |

Hello Oremeter IRCC doesn't conduct Interview for applicants like other developed countries, so your SOP is the document that sells you out to the visa officer in your absence.. So Yes, SOP is required and very important for your study Visa application to Canada.. Peace Oremeter: |
