Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has said it is a shame that leaders and delegates from the South East sold their votes to candidates from other zones in the just-concluded presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Saturday at his hometown, Uburu, during the maiden matriculation ceremony of the King David University of Medical Sciences, Umahi said such betrayal is a bitter pill to swallow especially at this moment when the Igbos have been speaking out about being marginalized.

“I had a series of meetings with the party’s chairmen in the five states of the zone in the company of its national vice-chairman. I implored the delegates that the issue was not about me, but the mood of the Igbo in the nation.

“I told them that they should vote for any candidate of South East, so that when our votes are counted behind all the contestants of southeast, we should not have anything less than the number of our delegates.

“By so doing, we would have made a statement; but it became a shame that our leaders and the delegates sold all our votes.

“It is a very big shame,” Umahi lamented.

The governor said he wept bitterly following the outcome of the party primary election, adding that it is painful for Igbos to be shouting about marginalization, and whenever they have an opportunity to make a statement they sell their votes.

“I continue to let them know that he that sells his brother or sister, even the buyers will not trust him.

“We would have made a strong statement in the process that the Igbo are eminently qualified with due capacity to lead the country,” Governor Umahi stressed.

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi is unbothered by defections to the APC in Nigeria
Umahi contested and polled 38 votes in the APC Presidential primary which saw Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Lagos governor, declared winner, after securing 1,271 votes.

The Ebonyi State governor while taking another look at the development, was of the opinion that Nigeria is skewed against the Igbos.

“Whereas other geopolitical zones have 6 and 7 states, the Igbo man has five states and we should be asking why?

“Whereas other states have 30 to 40 Local Government Areas, our own states have just 13 local governments.

“Is there any fairness and justice in this regard?” the governor asked rhetorically.

Umahi’s lament on Saturday bears a semblance to that of Former Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu who said there is no justice in having the All Progressives Congress (APC) fail to zone the 2023 presidency to the South East.

Onu stated this on Tuesday at the Eagles Square, while pitching his agenda to party delegates just before the commencement of voting at the presidential primary.

“What is very very important, exceptionally important, is that we must ensure that justice is upheld,” he said in his address.

“Naturally, it should be somebody from the South East that will replace (Buhari), and that will give the opposite South versus North and Christian versus Muslim a balance, and it will bring stability to the nation; it will strengthen Nigeria.

“The South West had eight years as president, eight years as vice president; the South South had eight years as president and vice president; where is the justice? Where is the justice?” Dr Onu asked in anguish.

PETER OBI IS NOT AN IGBO PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE.

It is infinitely wrong to look at PETER OBI as an IGBO presidential candidate. I will tell u why.

When yiu drive your car to a mechanic workshop, you do not worry about d tribe of the mechanic especially so, if you are assured of his competence. When you go to a hospital for an important surgery, you do not worry that d team of medical experts are not drawn from your tribe, you want to live and whoever will give ur health d needed boost is welcome.

Hunger has no tribe. And, hunger has no religion.

Poverty has no tribe. And, poverty has no religion.

Acute sickness has no tribe. And, acute sickness has no religion.

Today, Nigerians are hungry, poor and sick. Majority of Nigerians are below d poverty line. Many have no access to good medicare. These issues cut across all tribes and cultures.

How do we solve d problem? How do we arrest d steady descent into hunger, poverty and sickness? Do we vote the person who will likely win or do we vote to change d narrative? If u vote d person who will likely win, but whom you know will not deliver, that makes you PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE, because you are joining hands with our oppressors.

We must vote to change the narrative.

Just as you don't ask if the mechanic is from your village or if the doctor is of your tribe, we would not look at PETER OBI as an Igbo ; we look at him as d mechanic who will put our economy in perfect shape, we look at him as the doctor who will rescue our economy from imminent and fatal collapse.

If you are not happy that no serious effort is being made to make our educational system functional and effective in the new era, then vote PETER OBI.
If you are not happy that we are borrowing to service debts and to fuel consumption then vote PETER OBI.
If you are not happy that most youths are unemployed and unemployable then vote PETER OBI.
If you are not happy about the epileptic nature of electricity then vote PETER OBI.

The question you must answer is: would you allow ur beautiful car to remain unusable because the mechanic is Igbo? Or, would you rather die than allow an igbo expert take care of your health?
Do you hate urself that much, to allow poverty destroy your children when there is a genuine and legitimate way out through PETER OBI?

All youths must act now.

This is the last month for getting the PVC. We, the youths demonstrated in Lekki. What happened? They sent soldiers to kill us. Time has come for us to get involved in the way that they cannot kill us. Get ur PVC and get ready to flush these parasites in our nation away. We cannot miss this golden opportunity.

Let the youths arise!

It's not strange.
That's the trade in stock known with the region.
Betrayal and selfishness.
Until the greed is corrected, will be difficult to them to rule.

Shey na betrayal no make igbo delegates vote for anyim pius too?
We have igbo aspirants in apc and pdp, we have Onu, Okorocha, anyim, Umahi etc, wetin make igbo delegates abandoned them?

Umahi is the only igbo that was able to convince his state delegates to vote for him, other Igbo aspirants like Onu, anyim and okorocha got nothing, Igbo delegates sold their votes to highest bidder, blame ur igbo delegates that refused to vote for their own

It's a bigger shame that you sold Igbo youths out when you and your criminal colleague governors proscribed IPOB.

You got what you deserved.

undecided

⏩So, the Igbo delegates should have
given for free, votes that were been
sold for over 20 million naira❓I think the
Igbo delegates should be accusing
Igbo candidates of stinginess.

Igbo candidates should have matched
the amounts candidates from other
region were offering.

Politics is a game & Igbos must learn
to play the game and stop bringing
sentiments into it.❌❌❌

When it's time to bribe INEC officials
& tribunal judges, they don't hesitate,
but to settle delegates, just once in
4 years, they will be bringing sentiments.☹️☹️

A northern candidate will give money in
advance to delegates to vote for him, but
an Igbo candidate will tell delegates to
vote for him before coming back to collect❗️❗️

And they will blame Yorubas. It's an Igbo generational thing.

Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu lost all the 9 states that made up the old Eastern region to Obasanjo in the 2003 Presidential election. Et in Ojukwu's home state and local government, Obasanjo's humiliated him. Ojukwu later contested to represent his constituency as a Senator, but his brothers and sisters, families and relatives, friends and colleagues voted for the man that distributed the highest money.

Igbos will then turn around so say Yorubas betray them, as if Yorubas were the ones that voted against Ojukwu in Ojukwu's home local government.

The truth is coming out gradually.

Why couldn't the South East present a single candidate each in the main political parties?

Igbos hate themselves more than they do others!

how many Igbos voted Moghalu as president in the last election?

How many Igbos voted Ojukwu?

How many Igbo state accepts Ojukwu party despite his efforts?

I don't expect an Imo to love an Ebonyi!

One is original than the other!

Those were not Igbo leaders but your party men. They don't have the mandate of the people and never represented the Igbo people but their own pocket.
