I have posted unedited photos from Redmi Note 10 Pro here before.

Editing never makes any picture childish. Even those using the best Camera equipments out there do post production.

Bro this is usually what they say, it doesn't often turn out to be like that... I used the note4 but I wouldn't really say I was impressed, I also convinced my sister to use the note 8 and I would even rate the note 4 cam over the note 8.
Next thing you start getting advised to install a Gcam. In terms of Camera, I'm never giving Xiaomi a chance again.
You don't need this exaggeration na. Note 4 camera better than the note 8? Even if you had gcam installed on the note 4 ( I hope you know the processes involved? Unlock bootloader, enable camera2api), installing gcam on the note 8 is straight forward. The note 8 camera is miles ahead that of the note 4 if you compare stock for stock, and gcam for gcam.

I think mid range to low entry devices. I haven't used their flagships but I don't there would be a much difference.

In other areas, the device would be good
xiaomi cameras, particularly that of note 10s is very poor

It's like using Samsung Galaxy A02 or A10 and declaring that all Samsung phones are bad? How does that sound to you?

Have you used the Mi 10 Ultra or the Mi 11 Ultra?

Boss I have no reason to lie nor do I have anything against Xiaomi just trying to be 100% truthful. The current device I am using is a Xiaomi phone, got it two years ago. Before then I had embraced using Xiaomi products even when most people hadn't known about it (this is evidenced by my usage of redmi note 5A, before upgrading to Redmi note 4). So believe me throughout this years in relationship with them, they have not impressed me photographically. One of my friend who knew for my love for Xiaomi phones called me around October/November last year and told me he was about getting the Redmi note 10 (I'm not sure if it's the pro) and I told him to go ahead that the phone is nice and strong; guess what: he got the phone, loved it considering dual storage and some nice specs the phone has but he wasn't happy with the camera, he stopped taking pictures for a long time and recently got an iPhone as a second phone. He kept the note 10 though.

Then there was my sister who was a Samsung lover...I read some good reviews about Redmi note 8 here online and advised her to go for it as against her normal Samsung. That' was my biggest mistake lols: you know women, she kept complaining about how I made her buy the phone, I had to still post about wanting to sell the device here on Nairaland. You can checkout my topics to confirm it.
Conclusion, I am never giving Xiaomi a chance in terms of Camera again...though I will still maintain its a strong and nice phone.

Naxo, any photographer that doesn't use editing tools never ready. The reason most pro only shoot RAW is because of editing.

What I'm saying is simple: there are phones you would use, and you would never need editing. Take the the Google pixel for instance, iPhones and some others. And that is not to say that people using these devices do not edit their pictures but it's minimal often used to correct minute details.

Not when you have to increase brightness, contrasts, exposure and the likes. And please I get what you mean by photographers having to use editing tools, of course they do and you wouldn't be expecting and wouldn't be expecting an average user to go looking for those tools just to have a nice presentable picture for his or status and for memories.

I know you are not against Xiaomi, but just forget that comparison between note 4 and note 8. I still have a working note 4 around. Trust me, the device was abused with tweaks.
As for your sister, which phone was she using? Plus I hope you know the Redmi note 8 uses an LCD screen while Samsung has been using Amoled. Because of the punchy display on Amoleds, people often think a worse picture is better when comparing on different screen technologies. I bet you did not transfer the note 8 pics to the Samsung and viewed from there.

But all the references you made, Google pixel, Iphone are all flagships. You are comparing flagship with midrange devices. Its ok not to give Xiaomi another chance in photography, but you have not done a comparison too. I know of some persons who only used mid range Android phones before switching to Apple. They still call all Android phone cameras thrash on the basis of their experiences with cheap Android low and mid range phones.

And there is always this arguement lols. See ehen, I wouldn't be caught dead using transission devices because they are the opposite of Xiaomi Vis not strong, not durable no strong batteries and not very enticing specs; but photographically or camera wise, I will pick an infinix and some tecnos over Xiaomi. How about you do that comparison: pick an infinix or Tecno and compare it with a Xiaomi in the same price range photographically and see what the result gives

Your mistake, bro.

Comparing premium devices to Xiaomi's midrange and entry-level.

Mi 11 Ultra, Mi Note 10 and recently, the Xiaomi 12 Pro are phones that can go head to head with any iPhone in their category... you want a Corolla to outrun a Ferrari? cheesy

Go through the whole of this thread and you would see such posts as "Google pixel 3a, no edits", " iPhone no edits" some infinix "no edits' too...

But once you see Xiaomi, you will see "shot with Gcam" and the ones not shot with Gcam and the ones not shot with Gcam are often edited with lightroom, Snapseed and some other photo editors. And some of the edited pics are sometimes imo are childish (If you edit pictures in such a way that someone will see it and know it was edited then it's often not the best.)

Please answer me this question, if Xiaomi devices are good in terms of Camera the way you guys always say, why is there often need to get Gcam?

Fact: Gcam became a popular word on Nairaland at the same era/period that Xiaomi got general acceptance. Why is that?

Don't shift your goalposts ser. You compared Transsion to Xiaomi. Ha!

To answer your question, what you're doing is a classic case of nitpicking to suit a completely irrelevant argument that was trashed years ago.

1. Even though we can play football bare footed, why do we wear football boots?

Does it mean that there's something wrong with the people who wear boots? Or are those without boots better?

2. If you can use your legs to move from point A to point B, why do you enter transportation instead?

People use GCam because they can. People edit pictures because they can. Because it gives them the best results.

You clearly ignored the ones that were well edited and chose to pick on those done by beginners to prove a point that doesn't need proving.

iPhone users love vivid mode. What is that if not an edit?

So because one uses a Xiaomi phone, they're not free to tinker with their pictures?

If a brand does not suit your taste. That's great. Awesome. Go for something that suits you. It's alright.

But to plant your subjective views as fact in a public discourse is very wrong. You actually compared Tecno to....

Bring any Tecno phone to a shootout with my RN9 Pro. Any Tecno phone, even the Phantom X bring it. Do you know how many users have tried?

Let's not even mentioned RN10 Pro, Mi 10T Pro, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 11 Ultra or Mi 12 Pro.

Please note that not everyone that visits this thread is a photographer, some people may come to appreciate pictures while some others may come to see the phones with best cameras so they can get one .

You mean Samsung Galaxy A52 should be compared with the Iphone 13pro Max instead of the Galaxy S22 ultra? You put a pot of water and a drum of stew on fire at same time and conclude that water boils faster than stew? I don't understand what you mean actually.
Again, I don't think anyone is saying you should not pick any device over another. Some people can even pick an Infinix over an Iphone of same year for whatever reason. As for the comparison you seek, I used to have time for that, the winner is always going to be a Xiaomi at almost all price point. It makes no point to argue when I don't even know your basis of a better photo, I know many armateurs usually pick oversaturated and over exposed pictures over balanced well exposed ones.
Check this comparing if u you care, its a long time ago.
