As the country moves towards the 2023 general elections, the United States Mission in Nigeria has called on Nigerians to register to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) so as to vote in the elections.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Mission also congratulated the people of Ekiti State on the successful conduct of last Saturday’s governorship election.

It also praised the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as the security agents for their concerted efforts in making the election a successful outcome.

“The United States Mission to Nigeria congratulates the citizens of Ekiti State on the largely peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial election on June 18”.

“We commend the concerted efforts of INEC staff and security personnel which helped facilitate a secure election with a credible outcome”.

” We note the election’s technical improvements including that the newly adopted bi-modal verification accreditation system (BVAS) functioned properly in the vast majority of polling stations”.

“We encourage all citizens to register to vote as the country moves towards national elections”.

Getting PVC is a small challenge to voter apathy..



Will the citizens ready to sacrifice their convenience and travel to where their polling unit is on election Day

Are they ready to book an hotel near their polling unit, in case they have relocated to another city, just to be able to vote on Election day

Are dey ready to queue and not complain, either rainy or sunny on election Day, just to cast their ballot

Won't they say, they can't do any of the above, afterall their votes doesn't count, or politicians are the same syndrome

That's the big issue we need to address...Not even GET YOUR PVC.

There is enough PVC, with many millions uncollected...Voters turnout usually around 20-25% ...That's the bigger issue!!!

We should all get our voter's card and vote for whom we think is capable. Though nobody is a saint as we all see in a man we believed could do the job. But I will try Jagaban again with my vote cos I don't trust these people shouting Obedient up and down. I will follow my heart and vote Jagaban. His antecedent in Lagos state alone is testament to this, I just hope to see an assemblage of technocrats that will take Nigeria to the promised land. Nigeria shall be better again.

In the south east here in aba, most local government aren't open for registration they said they operate just Friday which is once in a week.

Can the Nigerian Embassy in the US also demand that US residents also get their Voter IDs in preparation for the Mid-term elections?? Will they be happy with that??

Furthermore, we need to institute a law that mandates all NGOs involved in our electoral process to disclose their source of funding. Some of these NGOs are just Special Purpose Vehicles used by US Intelligence agencies to interfere, disrupt and malign our electoral process under the guise of improving it.
