Good day fellow comrades,

Is been awhile, almost 10 months since my accident still unable to walk fully.

Guys I need your help and advice on this.

Let recap what happened.
I am driver, working with my partner for over a year before the incident. I planned my wedding for last year Sept 2021 in which I travelled to around ore for my wedding introduction and engagement. The whole ceremony was successful on Saturday and we decided to return to lagos on Sunday morning .

On our way back, getting close to ijebu ode some vehicles were facing One-WAY ON OUR SIDE OF ROAD.
All of a sudden while approaching a trailer, a transport sienna car, drove out from behind the trailer on full speed.

The best option that came to my mind was to leave the road, but before I could steer out of danger. We blacked out.

On opening my eyes. The car was smoking and the sienna was right in front of us in the Bush. My legs were already squeezed and broken under the pads, I couldn't turn to see my wife and my God-mother sitted behind.

To cut the long story short.
My God-mother die instantly, my wife head was split at the forehead. My both legs had multiple fractures.

God save my life and that of my wife. After the policemen, at the checkpoint not far away from us rescue us.

We went through multiple surgeries at othepedic and babcork hospital and they were all successful.

Now,
Here is were I need help and advice.

The policemen contracted my that the poeple of the sienna driver want to take their car. But were not allowed.
The station scheduled a meeting where my father and my uber partner's elder brother represented me .
However, it was concluded over there that they need to compensate us.

When I got the report, I was not happy because I felt they are meant to visit us and the family of the deceases. But they only showed up for their vehicle.

2 to 3 months since the meeting at the policestaion, we have not heard from them.
My wife and I has been decharged from the hospital. But my legs are not fully heal to stand on. My wife has also lot her job after her company wait long enough. I has really been very tough to survive. But We Thank God for life.

What steps should I take please? Will it be best to file a court case? Your opinions will help allot.

Wow this is a touching story. Your narration made it more scary. Most Nigerian drivers on Interstate duties drive recklessly. But thank God you are recovering well.

Hmm... Sorry about this situation you're currently facing bros may God send you help and grant you quick recovery! Amen!!

Pls focus on your recovery and forget about that police case it will cause you more pain, damage and more spycological troubles pls just move on police as never help to resolve any issue.

The one who is to be charged to court is the government who can't provide good road facilities for the safety of her citizenry.

The one who's to be charged to court is the one who contract was awarded to but never stationed traffic warders to help manage traffic during road constructions not the one who was also involve in same accident as you and also lost his property.

It's so sad that the government can only make her citizenry to pay for roadworthiness documents whereas their roads are not worthy enough to drive on?

It's a shame that we the citizens are so poor that we can't even afford good cars that can protect our lives when car is involve in accident neither can we afford to insure our vehicles comprehensively against road accident like this or theft. It's just so sad.

All the government knows is to extort. May them and their child run into accident that will cost them their lives, spirit soul and body when ever they visit Nigeria! Amen!!

I would have said what ever country they're but those countries are heaven on Earth so it will be hard for this prayer to work over there, so when they visit be it private jet, private train or their cars they drive may they crash and die! So shall it be! Amen!!

if you're passing through berger highway, after the BRT park towards secretariat pls stay on the major three lanes there are taskforce policemen extorting road users for diverting out of the highway and creating extra lanes at the side of the road. Pls maintain the major lanes may we not be unfortunate o!

i just wanted to bring this to your attention. We are planning to contribute to 1 of the uber driver . @ Tgiirl . He was in bad accident and he lost his mother in law. His wife survive . you can read more link below....

So I suggested that we should set up a Gofundme thread for him and his family. Pearl1910 will be in charge of it .....

We need to spread around and get more people to contribute to it .. I will also contribute my own share once it is set up ......

But regarding Tgiirl, I was thinking since he’s in Lagos you guys should support him? His accident was/is really tragic, the thing really touch me. If 20 people here drop 1k, 2k e no bad o.

Okay, cos u can't be doing contribution with people u don't know. And curbing scams and people taking advantage of others it's necessary u can verify those welfare needs before raising the cash.

Regarding Tgiirl it's not a bad idea at all. I will setup a thread or a Whatsapp group for that. Let's for ones use this our cruise and gbas gbos for something good.

The other guy that migrated to UK dropped hint, same with one other guy who went try IT... Chuscmor left and only showed us Canada pix and since then guy man face hustle so we free am since him too.free us... So if baz001 can not show us road guy stop coming here to tell us house easy it is to earn more than an Uber driver in naija.

By the time we all of.majority japa then we can now derail the thread in how to settle down and get our papers but for the now it's either were left to focus on our.uber hustle.or learn the japa route and strategize how to make it work.

Health wise, we are fine now. My wife is currently looking for another job now,

I am waiting for my legs bone to be fully heal to bear weight. My next appointment is in August. I hope the physio can then help me on standing on my feet by then.

I am really tired of sitting and sleeping in one place. However we thank God life and will never forget this testimony

Hmm... We do not have an unified WhatsApp group for all Uber drivers in Lagos neither do we have union as well. This thread is meant for everyone and the only passport needed to join is a moniker.

Many have made themselves known here and have always get assistance when any issue arises, some make contact to some people privately... I get a lot of that daily same way others also referr me to them...

One of us had engine problem I think last year and I believe he got financial assistance... I'm not good in digging or remembering names but I recall every single posts made here.

It's unfortunate most people don't know the importance of being actively involve in a social group like this... God forbid I felicity001 happens to go bankrupt today I'm very sure that even if I do not have data or the technical skills to put my phone on flight mood to come here to ask for help grin

I know one or two people who will call to ask baba watin dey sup e don tey I see ur post on NL... E.g... blackbishop... That guy carry award on checking on guys... Readadream too is another one...

So you see don't wait till you've problem b4 you'll ask for help, do your home work and let people help you clean your house when you can't.

Even Jesus Christ refused to give the bread meant for his followers to the dogs... My sheep knows me and I know them.

Yes, I start driving on uber and taxify(now bolt) in 2018 for partner, then bought honda civic on the job, before getting a job at a bank in 2019/2020.

Lose the job in 2020 covid crisis and my car was in bad condition. Then I signed up with my recent partner after lockdown till the accident September 29, 2021. 10months ago

Bros I don't wish evil for any of us but I'll always pray for evil to fall upon evil doers but the truth be told let's think outside the box...

I both a car for a client here last week or thereabouts (you the car na), and do you know how many airbags the car has? 8 airbags bros 8. 4 in front 4 behind.

My car and Readadream car has 10 airbags all the doors have 2 each, that's 1 up 1 down. Then steering wheel has its own, passenger side- front as one, then passengers behind has 1each by the speakers.

So you see? Should anything happens everywhere will be like parashot.

How many does a Corolla has? Just 2 airbags.

This underscores the importance of belonging to at least a small group, in times like this your colleagues can/should be able to help. I remember when my wife put to bed, I got almost 100k from total strangers I’ve never met before all because we belong to the same telegram group, I got another contribution again from the WhatsApp group. cheesy

I’d like to appeal to any driver who doesn’t belong to any group, even the Bible says don’t ignore the gathering of your brethren (Hebrews 10:25). Join a telegram/WhatsApp group, if there’s non, create one and invite others. Your battery fit die for road, lastma fit hold you one day, when you post in the group men will turn up.

Well, Nairaland is a group and I believe it will work here too.
@Pearl1910, I don’t think there’s need of creating a WhatsApp group or a new thread? Unless someone is willing to go visit him physically? If not I’d suggest he posts his account number, let’s set the ball rolling.
