I'm happy I made a decision to go to Vietnam, despite a lot of discouragement and skepticism. in less than a week of getting here, I have secured a job that would be make me more than 2000 dollars a month (that's over a million naira in naija o).

Apart from teaching job, there are many business opportunities (I and jendy360 are working on one already)

Thanks to whyNa for opening my eyes to this opportunity.

its not just about being paid 2000 dollars a month. What's is the cost of living and how much can you save from the 2000dollars ?

Dear Lastmessenger2, I am sure you will get a response on the cost of living when you actually want to know the cost of living in Vietnam and not with the way you asked your question.

The return ticket, including the Ok to board fee, was around 750k
Since it's a work visa, did you get a refund for the return tickets?
Also, did you write the IELTS exam before leaving for Vietnam?

sorry I didn't mean to sound harsh. I was only asking how much can you save from the money after paying your bills?

Hello, No IELTS. Just C1 and TESOL. If you have IELTS, it’s an added advantage for you.

For the return tickets, we are actually following up Turkish airlines, but they take so long to respond to emails. They suck at customer service

Thank you for your response, with your return ticket, were you able to get BTA from the bank?

Hi, Vietnam has affordable houses and food, and normal recreation and vacations are cheaper here too. Transportation cost is almost comparable to Nigeria.

Note that this is from my experience within one week I’ve been here, and more especially in Hanoi. We’ve met other Nigerians here too, and they said similar thing. We saw 1Achabu yesterday in Hanoi, and he actually has a lot of good things to say too if you follow his videos. The apartments here are really nice too with amazing and beautiful neighborhood. We’ve also reached out to some Nigerians in some provinces, and they are okay. Tho, some remote provinces may not be as nice as places like Hanoi, HMCM, Da nang from what we’ve heard from those living their, but generally, it is okay.

Meanwhile, they stare at blacks a lot out of admiration. Don’t be surprised to see them approach you and request for a selfie. About 4 Vietnamese ladies have approached me for a selfie, also 2 vietnamese guys have done same. I’ve received gift as well from a Vietnamese lady. And while I was typing my last response from where we seated, another of their lady approached me for a selfie. It’s really weird to me tho, but it’s more of admiration than racism. Their police is also friendly to black too.

And again, this is after 1 week of been here. Maybe because we’re still new, the whole culture shock and all that.

You doubted Chef Jendy cheesy. Meanwhile, the remaining 3 of us are having a highlands coffee as you left.

I really appreciate the class today!!! I was taught by @whyna today on how to teach Cambridge speaking, writing, reading and listening to young learners. Practiced the Cambridge starters, Cambridge movers and Cambridge flyers.

Hi Whyna,

Are there other jobs available in Vietnam for Nigerian immigrants apart from teaching?

Teaching is not my strong suit. Also, can I comfortably work from home?

Trust me when I say you will cope with teaching here. Give it one month and you'll adapt.

There are IT jobs here too but you must be a big shot with lots of experience for them to pick you over a local. There are other big companies too but like i said, you should be a big shot and know your onions and such multinational companies would usually recruit from home not here.
