The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Enugu State has expressed deep concern over the ordeal of the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, in the United Kingdom.

A statement by the Enugu State Government described Senator Ekweremadu as an illustrious son of the state and a foremost Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The statement disclosed that the government and the good people of Enugu State are saddened by the unpleasant news of arrest, arraignment and subsequent remand in custody of Senator Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, in the United Kingdom.

It, therefore, conveyed the thoughts and prayers of Gov. Ugwuanyi and the people of the state to the entire family of Senator Ekweremadu “in this difficult time as we beseech the most merciful God to grant accelerated healing to Miss Sonia Ekweremadu”.

The state government extended its profound gratitude to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the National Assembly for their empathy, support, solidarity and legal intervention.

It went further to appreciate the prayers of well-meaning Nigerians for early resolution of the issues.

Why are they concerned?

Was Enugu state government involved in his activities concerning organ transplant?

Are they also concerned about the numerous Enugu citizens in foreign jails?

They should focus their concerns on other issues, British jails are better than ours Ekweremadu will be handled gently, he has not been found guilty.

Chai, no single governmental sect or individual gives a damn about the boy's travail. All of them keeps sending condolences to the Ekweremadu's, as though their organs is the one being harvested .

No amount of concern being expressed by them will bring back the man anytime soon, UK government will take their time to the maximum to investigate the matter and will only release him and his wife if they find them innocent.

I think Ekweremadu put himself into this mess, with his level of exposure and education coupled with that of his wife 'a medical doctor', it took them nothing carrying out compatibility test on that Daniel boy in one of Nigeria's hospitals before even taking him out of here, but you know what? He won't, simply because he and other politicians have no trust in our health system hence the reason they never passed any reasonable bill to equip our hospitals and better the lives of our heath workers.

Indeed. Part of the lad's problem is the questions around his identity especially the age (with the suspicion by some that he may have lied...) which increased a lot of people's suspicion of the guy, including among people who hate or cannot stand Ekweremadu.

Then Nigerians are conspiracy fiends. A top politician gets into trobule....there must be a conspiracy somewhere...even if it is the politician's fault.

Anyway, I wait for the court case to get to the bottom of the matter.

Also, wonder why the Ekweremadu's did not use a close relative. That comes with a higher chance of getting a match for their daughter. A random person, even if it is the same racial group cannot give a match most of the time.
