I hope your future self will have a contrite heart! If you're still supporting Bubu after insulting GEJ at 183 then your foolishness is factory fitted
NgeneUkwenu:
LAGOS (Reuters) - Nigeria's naira touched a new record low of 183.05 against the dollar on Monday, driven by concerns over a sustained low oil price and expectations foreign investors would demand more dollars to pull out of local assets, dealers said.

The currency was trading down 2.4 percent from Friday's closing level.

The central bank has struggled to keep the naira within its preferred band even after devaluing the currency by 8 percent last Tuesday in a bid to halt a decline in the foreign reserves of Africa's biggest economy. Oil sales provide around 95 percent of those reserves.

The bank's target band after devaluation is 5 percent plus or minus 168 to the dollar, but doubts remain about whether it went far enough given the likelihood of continuing low oil prices and the fact that Nigeria's oil savings were being depleted even during a period of record high crude prices.

The coming weeks will test the bank's ability to maintain that level -- the naira is trading well below it and forex reserves are running out.

Pressure on the currency from lower oil prices risks reigniting inflation, which has stabilised in single digits for the past two years, the first time it has been this low.

Nigeria's economic troubles come at a bad time for President Goodluck Jonathan, who will seek re-election in polls scheduled for Feb. 2015.

Barclays on Monday lowered its expected average Brent crude price to $72 a barrel for 2015, down from $93 a barrel previously, in a sign analysts have become more bearish following last week's OPEC meeting, which left supply targets unchanged.

StanbicIbtc just called me this morning for my loan restructuring! I feel like clubbing to death any jonathan I meet on my way now!

Useless government!

You feel like clubbing to death any Jonathan you meet on the way? You are one of the miserable and unfortunate individuals that are accusing POs supporters of attacking those who don't agree with them right? Look at what you said a few years ago.

Jonathan met the dollar at about 150 and left it at about 200 which is roughly 33% increment. The curse of a president you and you gang of cursed men have been supporting met it at 200 and its 600 today which is a 300% increment and you still have the temerity, the boldness and shamelessness to have a moniker on this platform.

God will punish all you hypocrites if you don't repent. You fellows are unapologetically evil, and it will never be well with evil men.

Hear what God is telling you and your likes:

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight...Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man. Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust..." Isaiah 5:20 ff.

Just continue in your wicked path. You think its about ranting on nairaland, your Judgment is coming.

Wicked souls.

Alaye you need to go back to school.

In comparative analysis, there's something called variation.

Low oil price/ production
COVID 19
Russia Ukraine war
Low reserves

These are all variables. You can only make a proper comparison if all variables remain constant.

Check out oil revenue earnings from each president, and also see this prediction from Jonathan's finance minister.

Jonathan did not face the kind of challenges Buhari faced.

Buhari faced, and is still facing what no any other president experienced since 1999.

When he came in, revenue oil immediately slumped by more than 60%, Niger Delta avengers destroyed oil production, COVID 19, Russia Ukraine war. Even now that oil price is high, production remain low, from 2.2m in 2014 to 1.4 million now.

If Buhari has the kind of revenue and stability Jonathan had, and NIGERIA is like this, I would have been the first person to start cursing him and his entire generation, but I did not spend so many years in school, just to do shallow analysis of situations like you. I hope you will be more civil in engaging people on public forum.

Covid 19 and Russian Ukraine war have nothing to do with foreign exchange in Nigeria.
I don't know how you guys make analysis with every rubbish that comes in your head.

You mentioned low reserve, who is responsible for low reserve?

Low oil price? Are you kidding us?
