He can follow this man to push this bulldozer, so he know he's working hard.

Big energy

Personal issue.

It has nothing to do with his grade. Even if he got a first class he would still feel like a fraud. It is his mindset that he needs to work on.

Also, some people graduate and that's it. No self development, just going about telling the whole world how they are graduates with no job or with poor job. There are several free courses online and even youtube videos to develop yourself. You can even go through your entire university curriculum all over again online, this time with professors/instructors who really know their onions, not the quacks in most Nigerian schools that we ignorantly glorify. That's a confidence booster at the cost of the data that you waste on useless activities online.

He should start reading books on management and be ready to learn on the job

Be humble and recognize the team that is ready to work with him in the organization.

Leaders are listeners, he should listen more and talk less especially at this learning stage

Although, you didn't state his job or whether it's his inability to comprehend what his position requires of him or it's just his social awkwardness that is giving him this inferiority complex.
...from the little you made available, I'll advise he sparogatively begins to read a whole lot on business management, human management, human psychology, and books centred around building confidence.
Since he already sees himself as a fraud/failure, he already needs mental help. He needs a session with a very good psychologist.

Tell him to face the reality and choose between suffering and developing to getting the job done to stay away from suffering.

I have seen doctors that google their patient's symptoms to know what is wrong with them.

Imposter syndrome. And the answer is no. Quite the reverse really. I feel alone sometimes cos i am yet to see anyone with a mind as queer as mine.

So I left this organization like almost 2 years ago as a software developer but the management decide to retain me on part-time stuff because hiring a new developer will be more expensive ( I agree to slight pay cut) and new dev will take lots of time to understand the codebase since project is already completed just maintenance

In short I've been collecting salaries every month and doing next to nothing for them

Most time the only reminder that I'm still with them is bank alert

Earning million per year yet doing next to nothing

As I am now, I don't believe there is any job or level you will put me into that I will not deliver wonderfully. Just give me a little time.
You friend should do his underground work in the company. He should get to know all that needs to be known by a manager in that position, policies, his role, deliverables, expectations. Use your staff carefully to carry you through, humbly learn and relearn, develope yourself at the same time.
It has nothing to do with a degree...it's totally self will and dedication.

You can't be doing something with so much ease, average brain power and earn so much from it, all with so little effort.

I feel really guilty sometimes.

So far, all money I have ever invested since the beginning of the business is NOT more than 5k but the profits eversince has been mouthwatering.

Pls I want to ask your friend that IS A SECOND CLASS LOWER GRADE A BAD GRADE..? By curriculum it’s means an AVERAGE GRADE. In lieu of this, your friend is on the average or minimum but he can work himself up to the maximum and dine with the best of the best. Your friend graduated since 2014 nd didn’t build himself up maybe that’s why he thought he is a fraud on the job. A lot of commenters has said enough, in a sane climes they don’t look your grades but rather go with your competences. Since your friend feels he doesn’t have the enough grade and yet not competent, let him just see the opportunity as a ladder to better himself. He will learn on the job.

I understand how he feels.
I’ll advice him to stay out and prove that he’s not a failure in life. This opportunity came as a test to him to prove his competence and innate skills. The guilt he feels may be born of either naivety or integrity. He’s not aware that so many positions today are occupied by persons not necessarily competent but well connected. I know a few persons that work in MNCs that had to personally employ others to assist them with their jobs.
When opportunity presents itself, do you best. You’ll never have a second chance to correct a first impression.

In reality managing peooe has little relationship with University degree talk more of class of university degree. You have to be responsible , a good planner and executor of plans and also be smartly workhaholic and command respect by leading by example.

Forget about 2nd class thingy, this is based on personalities. I was employed as a receptionist when i had no prior experience of the job. I did quite well and catch up that even my boss was surprised at the pase of my adaptation

It's normal to feel like that because you have no such experience. The important thing is to have a growth mindset.

I had no experience when I started working with my company, January, this year. Though I had learnt about the role online and through books. The company didn't even give proper training.

I learned through people I work with (even though we are not in the same department).

Two months later, I was already feeling like a boss, even people wey teach me work dey calm down now.

I feel very cheated now and battle with top managers without fear

I actually feel it’s you seeing your friend as a fraud

My advice.

You have to face it. You don't know it. But you can know it on the job, it only takes one job to have an experience.


Learning on the job is a wide-spread practice. Just don't tell your bosses and subordinates.

Behave like you know it..

Go home, put more hours to learn about the job and what is expected of you, also find out the performance of the immediate manager, just don't let anyone find out why.
