Stay clean and conscience won't judge you or make sure you use that money find connection

I am really disappointed by this your comment. Are you aware that according to the law he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise? Do you also know that the police or any other person does not have the right to search your phone?

The police can use a simple crypto app on your phone to lock or torture you. Cryptos are not illegal. Government only stopped banks and financial institutions from dealing in cryptos. But a policeman sees crypto app on a phone as a crime.

I save my money in USDT as the naira (and even bitcoin) is too unstable for my liking. My savings might be halved this time next year. So I have Bifinance app on one of my phones. Is that a crime.

It is criminally wrong for policemen to profile a young as a criminal simply because he is driving a car. That's not different from US profiling all young Blackman as criminals.

You possibly do not live in Nigeria, you don't have grown kids or you are simply naive.
Any wise Nigerian parent will do exactly what his father did, first to Save his sons life, after life is secured, you can then go after the hoodlums aka police officers.
One very big man once told me that at police checkpoints back in the day, he behaved himself like a mumu, why? Before he would call his paddy who was then head of state ie babangida, the police and soldiers on the road would have dealt with him already! Abiola learnt the hard way!
In the present Nigeria, never drag with police with guns especially if you are alone. Many have lost their lives!
Survive that moment you don't have the advantage, then come back for them.

Then you obviously have not dealt with Nigerian police before. Nigerian police as a whole has no control or checks and balance on individual police officers. They extort, intimidate, threaten and even kill poor innocent people without fear of any repercussion. Only if you know a senior politician or military/police officer would you escape their criminal tendencies.

So what should he have done? Allowed them take his son and tagg him a cultist, murderer or whatever, those people can make you write and sign anything under duress.

Best bet is to sort it out with them before it gets out of hand, no be Naija police again, me thinks these people have some demons working with them.

Police, that's how they stopped my cousins at Igando bustop tagged them as militants simply because my cousins friend wore camo shorts that was when they had some little crises at igando. Next thing they took them to police station, before his mum got there they had handcuffed them( my cousin and his friend) with other people made them sit on the floor and were about taking photographs.
Boys that were going to pick up their elder cousin who just gave birth to the mum's place for proper omugwo.

They collected money and they released them, nothing incriminating was found on them or their car, heck they were not even driving a fancy car, neither were they even on the so called dreads they normally profile people with.

Very terrible people.

Two men were governors: one in Lagos, the other in Anambra.
Towards the end of their second term, the one in Lagos sent his retirement bill and got his house of assembly to approve what you see below as his yearly pension.

1. 300% annual salary as severance package as approved by RMAFAC.
2. 100% of annual basic salary of incumbent gov as salary for LIFE even after leaving office.
3. Six new cars every 3 years
4. A new house in Lagos, minimum 5 bedroom
5. A new house in Abuja or any other location, minimum 5 bedroom.
6. Free medical care for him and members of his family for life.
7. Entitled to cooks, stewards, Gardners, and domestic staffs, all pensionable.
8. 300% of his annual basic salary as governor every 2 years as furniture allowance
9. 100% of annual basic salary as governor as his house maintenance allowance
10. Two DSS officers, 1 female officer for his wife and eight policemen to guard him.
11. 25% of his annual basic salary for personal assistants.
12. 30% of his annual basic salary for car maintenance .
13. 20% of his annual basic salary as utilities maintenance.
14. Pensionable drivers, no limits to the number.

(This is apart from what he gets as a percentage of collections from the firm - Alpha Beta - which collects tax for Lagos State, and the total control he has over the governors and the treasury.)
..
..
But See what Peter Obi collects from Anambra State since leaving office as governor:

1. No gratuity
2. No pensions
3. No houses
4. No cars
5. No allowances of any kind
6. No maintenances of any kind.
7. No personal assistants paid by the state.
8. No domestic staffs paid by the state.
9. No aids sponsored by the state.
10. Not even pure water.
11. No shishi from the State.

Now the two men want to be president.

The SARS embarrassing you for the 5th time means you have to check yourself and means of livelihood.Paying them on the way without confronting them by following them to the station and standing your ground through getting a lawyer raises doubt about the legitimacy of your income. There is nothing wrong living big, driving big car,but all is wrong when you get rich through illegitimate means.

If his father has a lawyer in his contact nko? They would have taken him to the station and force him to write an incriminating statement before the lawyer arrives. They might even plant drugs in his car and charge him for drug possession. Worse still, they could shoot him, plant a gun in his car and label him armed robber.

Something similar happened to me last week. My driver brushed an uber car and the car lost control to hit a traffic light close to Ajah. They took both cars to the police station and forced my driver to write a statement and then locked him up. Before my driver got there the following morning, there was nothing he could do as my driver had already written a statement incriminating himself and absolving the other driver. Obviously the uber company and the police in charge of the case are working together. The responsibility of fixing the traffic light which was damaged by the other car and the repairs of the other car is now my responsibility. If we go to court my drivers written and signed statement would be used against him.

The guys father did the wise thing. Even if he decides to call a lawyer, would the lawyer not collect money? Then he would pay for both police and then court bail apart form other inconveniences, which might be more than the 200k the police (criminals or kidnappers) are asking for.

The Nigerian state is completely broken and we are living in an Hobbesian society, where life is poor, nasty, brutish, and short.

Sorry Sir o.

Are you saying his father should be negotiating with the police and paying several thousands each time he is arrested?

Are you saying the young man with his education is not bold enough to claim is right when he feels the right is being infringed upon?

Are you saying you have not educated your driver enough to know that he has a right not to write any statement without the presence of " his lawyer"

Sir, every thing is not about fear fear
A little bit of insistence on your right especially at.the police station will go a long way.

If you have encountered men of the Police force before then you won't be coming out here with this rubbish comment. Not everyone that actually pays bribe is actually a fraudster. A lot of people just do it to stay out of trouble. If you don enter Police station before nobody go tell you before you negotiate because once you get to station they'll beat you blue black before you pay so think before you come out to say rubbish.

The same profiling we are fighting occurs amongst youths because why would you think it is an abomination for a youth to buy a car unless he does fraud. There are so many options out there to make legit money but once you are a youth you are automatically disqualified because of how the society sees you.
