Asherifa or Damico or Adesanmi??
I think asherifa is directly opposite OAU? I once travelled for work around that area, There is one popular amala joint in that area, she sells drink too, I don't miss it everynight, that place seems to be the only restaurant in that area, if I'm not mistaking. It was my first time in that city, it was a very good and loving experience.

Why do I have these feeling that there Is huge relationship between ife and igbo...
Ife in igbo means light...
And I can see someone mentioned enuwa which means the top of the world...
I will find time to visit after the elections next year...

Western education was brought to the SW by missionaries and so you will see most of the schools named after missionaries but the schools have equal number of Moslems and Xtians. Moreover Ife Ondo Ekiti Ilesha axis is predominantly Christian

The religions live together they celebrate XMas, Ileya together and they all visit babalawo, worship egungun and local deities together

Regarding the food, you should be familiar with Eba(Garri) fufu and pounded yam. The soup you can try Egusi or Efo(vegetable) They should be close to what you are used to
Thank you, I have got a caterer make some good soup for me

You people shu stop all this nonsense of dividing yoruba into muslim and christian...it won't work ...which one is you are seeing a replica of christianity.......you are seeing our culture not any christianity

But for real all those missionary sch did not make ife christian majority...like my mom is a muslim and she went to a missonary sch(BHS)...osun is muslim majority

But pls stop saying christian and muslim in yoruba abeg

Yoruba is yoruba
I'm not dividing anyone. You're the only one seeing negativity here, the rest of your yoruba brothers commented here without issues.

Trust me you will enjoy your stay in Ife and lastly nothing like tribalism in ile-Ife. But if there is any dispute it must surely be from modakeke-ile Ife.

Modakeke are just strangers in ife. IFE owns all those lands. Infact that town is so underdeveloped. I got some friends there then who do complain of lack of power there whereas same not with ife . They always say it IFE people that don't give them light . But farm produce is very cheap in Modakeke . Op exploit more in ife, move around iremo, enuwa , moore. And if you are interested in history then you are welcome to ife

Adexxi I am from Modakeke

It is because you are my home boy and relative that I refused to say anything

Please we should not fight because we are the same People
But your fake News is getting too much

The matter has been settled for good and forever

There is no Modakeke person without Ife blood and Ancestors please leave it at that

The argument that a Modakeke man must not inherit the Property of his Ife Mother or Ife Grandparents no longer Works and even the Ooni's Palace has agreed so

We are the same People
A person who lived with you for 300 years and intermarried with you is no longer a stranger or tenant but a relative

Don't mind this commenter (frigga13). There's nothing like tribalism in in Ile Ife, the only people in this world that Ife people have issues with is the Modakeke people and that rivalry is more than about 300 years old.... If you study Ife and Modakeke history you can't blame Ife for not liking Modakeke and I'm not writing all these because am from Ife but because it's true.
If ile ife wasn't accomodating, there'll be nothing like Modakeke in the first place because they are not indigenous to ile ife.....

Nice one OP.. I can see you guys are toning down the hate. It's good for all of us...

Above is the link to my previous post asking for advice on how to get to ile ife from onitsha. Well, I took to Asaba then entered till Ore, although the initial bus I entered spoilt so I had to enter another sienna on Asaba Benin express Road. I got to the fly over at ore and climbed, then entered a sienna to ile ife.
My observations on the road:
Passing through ondo state I never knew there is a place called ondo Town, this Ondo town seems a bit open and developed, they're lots of businesses and tertiary institutions here. From there we entered ife Road. I was so happy with the lush vegetations I saw, indeed the entire south is a rain forest zone unlike the arid land I saw in kaduna and the rest of the north.

I was surprised to see lots of missionary grammar schools in osun. I mean what I was seeing were replica of Christianity, I was checking out for Muslim secondary schools I couldn't see. I passed through modakeke and what came to my mind was the ife/modakeke War. I didn't even know one had to enter modakeke before ife.
Well ife itself is an old city though, the roads aren't so good but I think because of the coming election some sections are been built esp the section that leads to the University.

I couldn't make out much cultural difference between the natives of ife and that of the south east where I come from except for the food types. But it is easy to relate with people here as almost everyone speaks English, it is unlike when I was in the north that you have to use sign language as most of them will never understand you.

Indeed the south is just same though, its almost like I am in the east. I'm enjoying my stay so far

Challenge :
I can't seem to get the kind of food I'm used to and most cooked foods here aren't satisfying me. I hope to overcome this hoddle by cooking and hopefully very soon I will be home and dry wink
Ile Ife is a good city...I had my secondary school there and I enjoy every bit of time I spent there... I plan to settle down there if I can get a good job there

Modakeke and Ife are the same People
That is even what caused a big part of the Problem

Because a Modakeke Man with an Ife Mother and Ife Grandparents had the Land he inherited from his mother taken from him because of his Modakeke Father

And there is not a single Modakeke person without Ife Ancestors

But Adexxi do you know we later discovered that Gold was being mined heavily many of those areas and now it seems the fight was really over Goldmines that People were unaware of at the time

For example all the Modakeke that had inherited Land from their Ifewara Mother’s or Ifewara Grandparents lost everything only to later discover that Ifewara sits on a Goldmine , my own Family had Land in Ifewara

All the History narratives were just camouflage to justify the fight for the Goldmines

I love Yoruba .. not even like.. my close friends are Yoruba .. they know my moniker ..

I just hate tribalism ... we’re all human .. and we ought to accept humanity .. no human is different from other .. same human feature

So why should others think they’re more human .. than humanity..... base on tribe or race ..

That’s why I don’t like Yoruba .. even the most intelligent and wisest of them have it in them

I know them well.

That’s is not seen in any other tribe in Nigeria

Maybe igbos .. and Fulani..
but there’s is hidden and subtle

And that’s Fact.

Being religious intolerant is understandable...even tho evil.

But humanity to human.. is crazy

Did your Yoruba friends exhibit hatred towards you? What makes Yoruba version of tribalism different from that of Igbo, Fulani or Africans?

You even prefer religion extremism that birthed BH and Bandit that always shout Alla akbar before carrying out their barbaric act to tribalism that has caused no single death in the SW?

I just dey wonder what you have gone through in life and in the hands of Yoruba that makes you become like this
