My friends, I have a very small circle of friends offline but who I can call by mid-night to send me money. I always try to return their money on time to build trust. Building my credit score basically. When I got my first job, I borrowed 40,000 Naira from a close friend cause I couldn't even afford to pay for my own transport. Purchased a laptop on credit through him. Such is life.

Usually I believe anyone who doesn't have friends/family they can call at a given time are terrible.
A wise man once said if you do not have three friends that you can call during financial crisis, then change your friends,is he correct.

No, It's the other way round. If none of your friends believe in you to help you out, It's because you are of no use to them. There are some friends I can't help or borrow one naira, because they haven't payed the last one they borrowed years ago.

Remember that even Hitler had friends, Putin has friends, same as Trump. No matter how evil you are, you would have friends. So it's not by being good or evil.

Is friendship all about money, are there no other things that bond friends together outside money,so if you're the one that is blessed won't you help your friends, must they pay you back the money you gave to them.

This thread was created on the premise of broke, which is caused by lack of money. So why are you changing the subject now?

Money is very important in friendship, if I can't trust you with my money, then what should I trust you with. My life? My kids? My wife? My mother?

God can never raise people for anyone if you are the friend that doesn't keep to your word. Nobody wants friends like that.

I don't understand what you mean by blessed . We are all average together and hustling. I am not going to bond with any friend that will run my family into poverty. It is not talk and gossip with friends I am using to pay my bills.

So please. Come off with that bonding talk.

Your second point is subjective. It might be the friends/family that are terrible. There are people who provide more value than they receive in most of their relationships and the very few times they end up needing help? They hardly get it, why? So many answers to that.

Which brings us back to your first point. Few folks have the strength of character to pay back like you did, they'll deliberately opt for the easy way out.

In such cases, one can end up being the fool who saves everyone but himself.

Solution: Surround yourself with people who share the same virtues as yourself or turn a Machiavellian. Most end up as the latter anyway as the former can be unsettled by envy, success etc.

When everything became badder and baddest, you run to government.
They pay all the bills.

Nigeria is not a country.
Our leaders are less than animals.

I have reiterated my point and explained further on the thread, so maybe you didn't see it. If you provide value to 10 people, when you need their help, you are assured that at least one person will come to your aid. It is true that some people might not rate you as much as you rate them, but there is no way everyone you provided value to will not rate you. If you truly show up for all your friends, one of them should come through for you. At least one! Everybody cannot betray you.

This is not philosophy, I have lived this practically and everyone who complains to me, I usually ask them this question in truth & the bottom line is that they never try to help anyone. Helping doesn't have to be money. Act of service is can even be more sacrificial.

Finance is very important in everyday activities, infact, you cannot function without money,it's the oil that keep the engine of life moving, but sometimes,we may go broke due to one reason or the other,at this critical time, who do you run to for assistance. For me,my wife is my banker of last resort,i.e,she always bail me out,but i will pay back o.For you who is that person that always bail you out.
Jesus Christ na my bailout fund oh. I cannot count how many times I will come down to my last 50 naira in school and I will pray to God not to let me starve and boom one short term job will show up from nowhere and raise my liquidity drastically. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not upon your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path.
