Happening now!!!

The Anambra State Government continues the demolition exercise in Onitsha Metropolitan Council Area of the State.

The Joint Taskforce comprising of Police, Army, Civil Defence, Anambra Vigilante Group and EbubeAgu is currently demolishing a double storey building and detached buildings of an abbauer market obstructing the Sakamori Nwangele drainage Canal.

This exercise is in line with Governor Soludo's vow to implement the Greater Onitsha Urban Renewal Plan as part of his efforts in reshaping and rebuilding the commercial and industrial hub of Anambra and SouthEast at large.

Mr governor, sanitize the city for us irrespective of whose ox is gored. People should learn to build with a plan and an approval.
If you don't have a hotel website or you have a hotel with at least 20 rooms you might want to automate and digitalize the room booking process. I have written a script that can be hosted online or that can run on a localhost which will enable you manage your hotel. This script comes with amazing features I know you will definitely like because it was specifically built to solve the problem of Nigerian hotels. Check the link below to see more details and demo in action.

These structures look like abandoned structures.
Is there any plan to build something there or just to pave way for free flow of water during flooding? Or is it due to security risk or targeted against terrorists with links to ipob terrorists?

If he demolishes and go, another government may come in the future and re-allocate the lands for people to start building on them again.

In my opinion, there is need for clarity on what is next after the demolition and more public engagement.

When Soludo took over, he made a statement, which is in d public domain, about his plans for onitsha. He made it absolutely clear, the structures that will be demolished and the reasons why they will be demolished. Everything is out there in the internet, if u can just search it out. Don't mind all those people trying to whip up sentiments over this whole thing. U just don't erect buildings on a drainage channel or waterways and u expect a reasonable government in power, to just overlook it, meanwhile d state is battling with erosions and floodings... Come on!! We cannot be all mad at d same time... I hope u understand my point and I didn't come off rude or arrogant...? Cheers

Thank you sir. You are actually clear enough and I appreciate your honesty and courtesy. I just want to add public enlightenment especially through the electronic and print media.

LASG is very good at this, when they need to rally their base, they will be everywhere. You will recieve whatsapp video of the Gov. and Deputy making appeals in both English and Yoruba , their social media handles will engage and when you tune to all the 3 radio stations of Lagos state and our LTV, there are documentaries, talkshows, call in programs, adverts and jingles in Yoruba and English to enlighten the public on the benefit of these govt policies.

I am not in Anambra so I can't just assume it is being done but the benefit is huge to ensure that political opponents do not misinform the public the government is serving their interest.

This reminds me of Governor Aregbesola first tenure in Osun State, a lot of people were cursing him because of the demolition exercise then. But after the 4 years same people started praising him, because of the new face he gave Osun state especially Osogbo to be precise. Belief me a lot of beauty will come to Anambra state after all these demolition

Soludo is handicapped!

He does not have the financial resource to hit the ground running. Obiano has looted state dry.

All he has in his schedule now is visitation, civil servant downsizing, and destruction.

Trying hard to perform with little.

One of the many roles of government is to sanitize the physical environment of it's citizens. This might be a sad situation for owners of such buildings ( I empathize with them) , but truth be told, most of us don't ask the right questions before purchasing a parcel of land or erecting an edifice.

If you have ever been to Mpape in Abuja prior to 2021, you'd definitely notice the difference now. The government had to sanitize that place else na Heavy ghetto you go get.
