SE is the second most dangerous region to live in Nigeria - only PH area is worse. Anyone who mentions Maiduguri should tell when last the city witnessed an armed robbery attack, cult killings or ipob/unknown gunmen-style beheading.

If they took that route, that means it's one of Zenith, UBA, KeyStone or Ecobank, these are the banks around that axis and the place you have more Security attached. That narrow road might have been Factory Road. The Security is complicit.

On a normal day, I have been arrested there just making a call. This is bad, the last time such happened there was '05.

It's not enough to have "intelligence. That's only half of the equation.

Other things the NPF needed that could have turned the battle in their favor:

1. schematics of the area
2. an idea of the escape route
3. enough policemen (to outnumber the thieves, at least, 3:1)
4. a minimum of 3 snipers in the response team
5. superior firepower
6. a negotiator (optional sha)

Laying ambush for the criminals after intelligence report should have been enough to apprehend or kill those armed robbers who were not expecting any ambush from the police, the local vigilantes would have done better than the police in situations like this
