As Africans living in the tropicals we need the S geneotype to naturally reduce the severity of malaria infection, hence why white people died of malaria in the early century before the invention of Quinn. AA suffer from malaria severely compared to AS.. Sickle is nature's way of protecting us from the fatality of malaria infection...

Please look after yourself, take your folic acid, stay hydrated.. The bottom line we need one of S gene to fight or reduce the severity of malaria infection.

We must, including you as a survivor promote research into sickle cell disease, therapy to ensure the sickle does not reduce the haemoglobin and lead into a crisis..
Geneotype awareness is good before having children but the bottom line is that many people are unaware and would rather have kids with people they love or care about..
