No one has the right to collect your old expired Passport when you go for renewal.
They only need to sight it when you go for capturing.

When I did mine, they asked for it, showed them, got captured and left with my old Passport.
I have the old and new one with me.

If you really know your way, you can capture in September and get your new Passport before travelling(Rub palm).

Nigerian Embassies abroad will make life frustrating for you when you want to renew.
Na una dey enable their racket/ black market I was talking about. Corruption will never leave the blood of Nigerians, regardless where they move to

Many thanks for your submission.

I would have loved to renew it here, but i was told i can't start until September (i.e 6 months to expiry) and they will collect the old passport which has my travel visa on it which i am going to use in September. That has been the dilema.
You can start one year before expiry. Please go now, if you must.

You should have stayed back in Nigeria and fight corruption.
Even in the western world here, Nigerian Embassies still collect bribe to fast track your Passport.
Do you think anyone loves to rub palm?

How did your interview go?Did you declare your intention to use the visa for birthing purpose? What did the officer say which could give you hint or the reason. Some folks who have kids also get from Toronto, so wondering what could have happened.

Hello folks,
I applied for US visitor visa in Toronto 2 months ago but i was refused. i am a PR holder. I have been issued b1/b2 visa back in Nigeria 2 times. my kids were born in USA and hospital fees were paid in full.
I want to ask if anyone has been in my shoes and if they later issue the visa.
Thanks in advance

The system has changed.
You wont have any choice than to drop your old passport, it will be returned after capturing. Nothing will happen to your visa.

Or lock up and travel, and hope for the best in canada

The main reason am here is for direction but seem over pride comes out from here...my dear, I know I can research but why the reason you are there is it for snapping pictures..if you can't help just keep mute..

For those who are in Canada to help people who are too lazy to research, this question is for you.

Please, is it possible to change the address where your PR card will be delivered? I mean change it to a different address from the one you gave the immigration officer when you landed?
Yes and it's free if you do it within 180 days of landing

Oshey the gbas-gbos got me o!
NaughtyBrainiac:
Yes bro, I got his message from the outset but I like giving people benefit of doubt as well as second chance. I gave him a second chance by using courteous words like "kindly" and "thank you". At least, a wise person would have considered that and try to address me in a kind way.

The internet is too toxic already. Not everyone has a strong personality and very durable shock absorber. I know people that would cry and feel less of themselves after reading what the guy typed ( what he typed was not too harsh but trust me, it's enough to ruin some people's day).

We should learn to be kind. If we are catching cruise, that's a different thing. Even when catching cruise we should know limits and respect boundaries.

However, I don't see anything bad when two people with "strong personality" give themselves gbas gbos grin grin grin

You simply reapply again.

Being a PR here doesn’t give you added advantage.

Just apply again when you are ready.

Thanks

it does. Even students are getting it. The guy probably violated his visiting visa terms when they went to give birth then. Many people have been banned for this

I like your bold suggestion lol. But nah, i didn't violate any visa terms. I did drop box for renewal back in Lagos and at the port of entry when i wanted to go give birth, the indention was declared and all medical expenses were paid in full before departed.

I am wondering what could have gone wrong. Do you have a clue what could be the concern of the VO based on the interview questions you were asked?

You can keep building your ties in Canada like a job and try to apply again during your leave period. That would be strong evidence you are returning back to your job in Canada. I think you should give a little time before you apply again

Hopefully, you have this sorted.
