afrodoc2:Had United had that type of ego, they wouldn’t have signed him in the first place. But since they’ve damaged their reputation so much, they succumbed. Madrid got the best of him and quickly got rid of him when they saw they couldn’t manage his ego anymore. Same with Juve, although they got less from him. Ronaldo still has much to offer, but usually, it has to come at the expense of his teammates. They have to do the jobs that he won’t do and then service him well. No big team can accommodate this version of Ronaldo along with the monumental ego. Except maybe United. If he doesn’t recalibrate as you mentioned, it could be a sorry end for the greatest player of all time. |

patrickmuf:2 new LBs in one window? Isn’t that … weird? |

Leyqute:We can opt for an experienced LB who isn't new to the league...Someone in his late 20s... |

KingAlabi:If McTom is in the market, trust me we can easily get £20m - £25m for him...If Fulham can cough out £10m for Pereira then McTom with his pace and pawa should fetch us more...He'd be a delight for the likes of Brentford, Palace, Everton, West Ham and co. |

patrickmuf:We should get in a replacement first before selling anybody. We've not even replaced the ones that have left so far |

SideshowBob:Dejong may finally come in, but a lot of people already have some perception about him and he'll need to do more to get back in their good books |

patrickmuf:This wouldn’t be a problem, except for a little thing called team integration and chemistry. It’s too risky. I don’t mind getting rid of one LB who is familiar with the club and it’s systems and then buy 2 new LBs. Getting rid of both and buying 2 new Lbs is too risky. If the 2 of them don’t settle well or get on well with others, the team could be in big trouble. |

eph12:Lisandro, Eriksen, Garner and coming in to replace Matic, Mata, Lingard etc... FDJ is still a distant possibility to replace Pogba while Martial is back to replace Cavani... Don't forget that we might hit gold with a couple of youngsters. |

Leyqute:City are bringing in Haaland and Alvarez who are new to the league but then it's no problem. There's a reason I suggested an experienced player with plenty of EPL experience...Shaw leaving on a free or getting an improved contract will be bad business just as keeping a below average Telles will see us paying him for doing nothing... |

patrickmuf:You can’t compare City’s setup with United’s. City are successful on the pitch. They have an identity and each player knows their role in the team. They’ve also gotten it right in almost all positions on the pitch. So changing one or two things won’t affect their overall output significantly. If you remove Haaland and Lisandro from City’s squad, they’re still a formidable team. The same cannot be said of United. We’re still trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t in terms of team chemistry, personnel, etc. It is too risky to throw out 2 LBs who are part of the dress room and replace them with new faces. |

Leyqute:Telles and Shaw haven't cemented their position here...I am most disappointed in Shaw so, I don't see how worse we can be without them... Are you saying that we will struggle if we replaced Maguire, Shaw and AWB with Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Malacia? I think not. Even if Dalot is replaced with a new RB I won't complain...I'd rather watch the new guys take a couple of games to get going than watch those players who have supposedly blended with the rest of the team continue to mess things up... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 1:37pm On Jul 17, 2022 |
patrickmuf:Dalot and Varane are not new players nor are they new to the club. |

ChristineC:He had a standout season on Ole's first full season in charge. Be like people get short memory, I mean, he was touted as the world best LB all over the internet. By United fans anyway. |

Leyqute:I don't mind seeing only Varane in our starting back 4 with the rest of them being new players... Shaw and Maguire should not be starters...We can't continue the culture of rewarding mediocrity... |

patrickmuf:Replacing that midfield should be a top priority. Aside Lisandro, I don't see who can replace one of McFred in the team currently. Garner should be a squad player at best for now. |

We say we dont want other clubs to bully us into overpaying for players, but still spent £55m on lisandro martinez.. we never learn, when you price a player better than him, the selling club will tell you bring £80m or nothing.. selling clubs will keep using united to do maga, Woodward or not. |

ChristineC:What you're saying is true, however I'm not trusting Telles as a LB. Assuming Malacia instantly makes starting XI, who will back him up?? Especially as it seems ETH is bent on converting Telles into an LCB. We need an upgrade true, but the LB isn't the most pressing. RB and CDM on the other hand... Especially after the Malacia addition. The rebuild doesn't end this season. I'd rather he stays and leaves as a free agent than have us lacking in that position this season. We can focus on there next. |

ChristineC:Shaw is rumored to earn about £150k weekly. I honestly don’t see him going higher than that at a club that’s not as big and rich as Man United, especially when you consider that he’s a left-back, not some striker or centre-back. United offering an improved contract will simply be a display of poor negotiation decisions, which will ripple through the squad if not contained. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by kozmicity: 4:04pm On Jul 17, 2022 |
patrickmuf:He's quite decent offensively, but due to the position he plays, he unfortunately needs defensive awareness. His lack of it overshadows his passes going forward. Don't take my word for it, watch him in the matches you'll notice. Maybe that's why I like him |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by kozmicity: 4:06pm On Jul 17, 2022 |
eph12:Same with rondo, if he returns, I hope he warms the bench for like 5 games straight. Unfortunately, his fanboys won't let us hear word. |

James Garner: "Personally, I’m not too fussed if I play as a 6 or 8. Throughout the academy I played as a deeper lying 6. People maybe questioned whether could I score and create but when I got to the 21s I showed I could also play box to box." |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Oasis007(m): 5:08pm On Jul 17, 2022 |
James Garner: "This season I’ve played as a 6, 8 and in the No 10 position. For me, I enjoy 6 or 8 as long as I'm playing. In the academy, I was always a centre-back at six or seven but got moved into midfield and it went from there. I’m enjoying my time." |

James Garner: "Last season was a top season for me, I think will be tough to top a season like that unless I win the Premier League." |

James Garner: "Unfortunately I picked up a little injury on the first day [of tour] which has set me back until now. I’ve been in the gym and I’m back training from Monday so hopefully I’ll get a chance to play." |
