Naija Defenders Transfer Record: From Taribo West to Calvin Bassey

Back in 1997, Taribo West was one of the world's most coveted Center backs. Inter Milan paid a then record fee for a Defender from Auxerre in Ligue 1...

"€12 million euros" according to some sources including Harry Slavin of Daily mail sport.

Taribo West would go on to forge quite a status for himself in Milan featuring for both Inter and AC.

Fast forward to today, and his transfer record that stood since the time I was barely out of diapers has been smashed to pieces by a young Calvin Bassey Ughelumba.

"23 million euros rising to 26.5 (approx 27) million euros."

The Glory of the latter house shall be what......? Complete the rest wink
the same bassey one obote here said he is all about power and pace with no footballing brains cheesy

Na on this thread we kuku gather dey. I had soft spot for him TBH. So I was surprised when one club (forgot the name) came for him and he refused their offer. I was disappointed. He is probably heading to Turkey

awaziem don finish. He should join the porn industry

Ekong just need to leave europe and move to America, the mls is his level

Balogun is 33 already and with the afcon postponed to 2024 him and musa should just bid the national team good bye

Same goes to omeruo

Jpes if I were to be him I will focus more on younger players to build a team mixed with experienced heads like ndidi, iwobi, aina, moses, ajayi etc with the aim of having a good team to compete at the 2024 afcon and 2026 World Cup

the bolded crack me up grin grin grin grin

I agree...
I still think we need Balogun though. He is the only reliable CB for me and sadly, he is 33 so we can't have him in the NT much longer.

from now to the next afcon he will be 35 then 37 at the next World Cup? Noooo

Also he is currently club less and it’s of great concern if a club like rangers refuses to renew your contract as a footballer. It simply implies that you are finished cheesy

Even I heard he wanted to remain in Scotland and approached rangers board for a renewal of his contract which they refused

It is about time we brought back Akpoguma to try a combo of him and Bassey in that CB, then we should reconsider Torunarigha now that he has moved to Belgium, as back up to both Bassey and Zaidu

yes of course you re right but with more pressure some will bulge

Tosin won’t smell the 3 lions squad to the next world cup

Torunarigha is ready to talk with the nff if they return for him

Rumour has it that ex coach rohr held several talks with uduokhai and something was on the verge of happening before the Augsburg cb got injured which kept him out for a long time

21 year old Jonas David chimezie is not a regular at bundesliga 2 side Hamburg but highly rated and hv already voiced his interest in repping us
Ok.

I support inviting talented foreign borns that are open to playing for us only. Once they reject us, we should move straight up.
