Munamoqel: That guy has probably lived in the village all his life. The kind of luxury and preferential treatment those guys get here, they certainly can't get even a quarter in their country. Many of them living here have personal drivers, professional chef, security guards, etc. Dem born them well to fund that kind of lifestyle in their country? How many people in America can afford to hire a personal driver, chef, and private security guard? They basically do everything on their own to save cost, not because they enjoy cooking or driving all day. 4 Likes |

Talawaka: So I think they wudnt tax him of the 24m month salary... besides, the prices of basic amenities in Nigeria goes up at will ... bread is now 1k , fuel is 180 , diesel is 780 , a kilo of chicken is 2k , a bag of rice is 35k ... earning in Naira is becoming dangerous 1 Like |

Here is someone who gets it. Alot of fools on here raving like 24m will change your life permanently. I know of two acquaintances who have quit Shell and Chevron respectively for their masters in the US. And they earn in excess of 2m naira a month. Upon completion of their degree, they are bound to get jobs that will put them at par with what they were earning in Nigeria. And even if they don't, they prefer to take that paycut in a better, serene environment than to remain on a rudderless ship that is sinking fast. What some fools here do not realize is that you can never put a value on peace of mind. Living in some gated community in Ikoyi or Lekki whilst still within the proximity of people who don't have much to survive and who don't have much to live for, is not peace of mind. You can buy your jeep, the best kind, say a Porsche Panamera but you sure as s*** can't drive it all around Lagos with the bad roads and the traffic. Inflation catches up quicker with your salary than your employers can afford you an increment and your bills never stay the same whether it's rent or living costs in general. Decent healthcare? Don't even get me started on that. And ontop of it all we now have had insecurity in the last 8 years. People who already understand Nigeria and the randomness that comes with it would prefer to start all over again. People who don't understand Nigeria and perhaps have never come in contact with the randomness that comes with living in this hellhole would wonder why someone leaves a 24m naira salary. Money can't buy you peace of mind. If you have stepped outside Nigeria to even neighbouring countries in West Africa, you will despise the zoo we call a country and call for change with sincerity. US is a very capitalist country unlike UK and Europe. They don't have as much social security like the UK and the rest of Europe. European policies would focus on the overall welfare of the society over an individual welfare. Culturally, europeans are more frugal and less consumerist than your average american. Also, US sheer size and population shouldn't be a called a country but a continent and the richest country on the earth. These factors affect the way their society perceives money and rewards people. pocohantas: 3 Likes 2 Shares |

It is not what you earn as a salary earner that matters. It is how you spend the income. If the family income to expense ratio is 1: 0.97, then he is a poor man. |

Munamoqel: It doesn't work that way, if it were, virtually all Big 4 & Energy folks would have left the shores of this country. The process is long, and it is not guaranteed! People who changed diapers, worked at restaurants, guards in club houses overseas 2-4years ago have mortgages and live decently now. The beginning looks tough but once you adapt, you are good to go. |

It’s a wise Decision. His wife is probably the person doing the masters. He is gonna get a better job and better pay. Nigeria is in a very bad state. You don’t even know if they have experienced insecurity of their lives as a family. Japa dey hungry me too. 2 Likes |

Why wait till the wife rose to BM? Why wait till his pay got to 24m because certainly, he must have climbed steadily at work. Is he just realizing that Nigeria is insecure or he needs a master's degree? Tweeter story of the week. |

After 2023 and Tinubu rigs that election (WHICH I PRAY AGAINST), I will consider leaving Naija but if Peter Obi wins, I will stay and hustle in addition with my job. I have a friend in the USA ready to fund and facilitate my coming to USA but I'm keeping that on hold. 1 Like |
