I want to apply for my international passport in Owerri, but an immigration officer told me it costs #75,000.
This is against the price of #25,000 that I saw on the Nigerian Immigration service’s official website.

Who has tried applying for his passport of recent? How much did it cost you?

If you are not in a hurry, go online and apply.

I’m not actually in a hurry.
Like how long will it take?

You will wait forever.

This one loud and true. Even if you apply in person at their office, it will take about 2months to 5months before you will get it, that's if not more. Buhari had made it difficult to get passport like before, to stop Nigerians from running away, or maybe immigration can't afford the printing of the booklet like before as the economy is hitting everyone wotowoto in different style.

Well what do I know.

N40k to N65k in Abia state.

I got mine in five months but later they upgraded their system so people are getting it now in just three weeks.

Your bolded statement may not be far from the truth.

The Nigerian Police have increased the cost of obtaining a Police Character Certificate from N5,000 to N40,000. This is a document valid for only 3 months and required by most Nigerians seeking to study abroad or migrate abroad for better opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian International Passport which is valid for 5 years costs only N26,000.

The question every well-meaning Nigerian should be asking is "why will a document valid for only 3 months cost twice the price of a document that is valid for 5 years?"

Please join in compelling the IG of Police to reverse the price of obtaining PCC to N5,000 by signing the petition via the link below. Over 5000 people have signed but we need more people to lend their voice.

Apt. That's it; I don't have time to say much to him but I know that anyone who knows the state of things will know I spoke nothing but the truth.
