That house might actually be their family home in their village built by their father or grandfather and there have been relatives living in it and tending to their businesses in the village.

Remember they were based in plateau state. Might have been visiting that house in that compound maybe once in every other year for Christmas.

They have grown and their kindred must have allocated them their due lands for building for themselves and their families or they have acquired lands in that same village for the same.

If they wish to renovate this particular house for whomever lives there (maybe a gateman or relative) then fine. But it’s not something that they must do. Remember if they have to hold occasions in their village they must have their own better compounds OR they use a rented cosy venue. It’s mostly funeral and igba- nkwu that is done in a lady’s fathers house.
