[quote author=otipoju post=115298286]If the minister and lawmakers are not aware or were not consulted...who then is doing the increase?[/quote Believe them to you own peril. They are just playing us for fools! Reading further in the article, you will notice where it stated that, the increase is due to the President signing the Financial Act of 2020 into law. So, the Honorable Minister is telling us that, he was not aware of such a bill from the time it was introduced into both Chambers, debated in committees, debated in both Chambers, passed in both? Or are you believing the excuse of the ‘lawmakers’ who participated in making this law either by in the least voting for or against it? |

The minister of finance in Nigeria is incompetent and lazy. Buhari should replace that woman called minister of finance with a hardworking man as the new minister of finance for the good of Nigerians. |

Who is he deceiving? When was the last time he paid any tax ? There is a limit to which they can tax people, an impoverished country ruled by corrupt leaders cannot survive on tax income only, selling viable national assets was a very big mistake, problems we shall see next year. |

This government obviously needs a crash course on how not to provoke a revolution. In the history of modern societies I can't remember reading about a time and a place where a people have been pushed to the brink this much ever before. The Nigerian government is asking, demanding and begging for a revolution. 1 Like |

Tax is a major way governments in developed countries fund the economy. I don't understand why a government minister is deciding to fight this. Does he prefer the government begging China or some foreign government for loan? The UK generated £584.5billion in 2020/21 from taxes alone. |

Na the only way they know. Increase taxes to fund their lifestyle. To ride bulletproof lancruiser with 4 Prado and 4 Hilux as escort. E no reach them sef, are you aware Nigeria bought 10 landcruiser for Niger Republic at 1.4b based on the request of Niger Republic to move vip up and down few months ago? No money no money, ex govs are still collecting pensions, houses, medical change of cars, security personnel, cooks, travel allowances etc from the "poor" states they governed despite the fact that they became billionaires and trillionaires? The originator of pensions for ex gov pensions even owns a fleet of aircrafts, and still collects from the state today, but wants to feed folks with agbado, cassava, garri? He, in his magnamity decided to recently add ewa and dodo to the menue, no meat ohh.. |

The government tryna squeeze the last bucks from the citizenry they don't benefit. Nigeria credits rating is probably used up by this clueless governance. If you don't know the way out, then leave. Stop trying to make a wrong right by another wrong. A local man cannot can when it comes to admitting incompetence. |
