It's just cultural/religion.
Marriage is about the Number one way of building bonds between families islamically.
God has called her to the great beyond and life has to continue and the marriage must hold.!
If this had been a family that had, say, lost a son, would the families have handed over their next son to the other family that quickly in order to build this bond Islamically too? undecided

Haba!! Just one week huh

I'm beginning to suspect he has a hand in his fiancé's death, because one week is just too small to mourn your Fiancé. Kilode!!

Men are emotionally weak, Women hardly re-marry instantly. SMH

RIP to her.
Why do you think so?

Ahh things de happen sha for this world. It actually feels good to learn about other people's culture and way of life.

To me I feel this is not right the way and manner they choose to do it. Atleast they should have given even if it is a month gap before going on with the wedding.

I'm not against him marrying his late fiancé's sister. What I'm trying to say is that one week is just too short to mourn his late fiance before moving on.
is there a stipulated number of days to mourn ones sister in the Holy book you believed in

May be the man demanded a refund of the bride price he paid, and was given the younger sister in compensation due to inability to pay back. This is near impossible in the Eastern part of the country.

It's a tradition here in the northern Nigeria if a wife of fiancee died both the husband and wife's family will suggest he married the sister same with husband or fiance.

So, if the man had died instead, the dead man's family would in less than a week submit their next son to be wed to the same girl who was the dead man's fiance?, undecided

I live in kaduna and there's nothing wrong about it. It's strengthen the bond of both families and if the dead is married has children it's better for their siblings to replace them, so that the children will not be raised by strangers.

This is instead about unmarried individuals who have no real attachments formed yet except for the agreement to marry in the future. undecided

What family bond is there to strengthen when there really a bond formed yet? undecided

Or is it a business agreement between the two families or what? undecided

Maybe, Maybe NOT. But your suspicion is based on what ?

Men are emotionally weak, Women hardly re-marry instantly. SMH
No, men are not ridden with emotions and they don't enter menopause nor out of market at 30 yrs.
The emotionally weak are the women, the ability to get over it and marry next week is NOT the definition of "emotionally weak".
More like: MEN are not ridden with emotions. FTFY.

Life happens. It is an easier thing in the north than in the west and harder than in the east, but however, it's their choice.
Poor you. This kind of malfeasance can onlyhappens in the North and the East NOT in the West.

As long as both families agree to that and neither the intended bride or groom is been coerced.
