A Twitter post that has gone viral claims that a daughter of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made a video cautioning him to drop his presidential ambition on the grounds that he is not fit for the position.

The post reads, “UNBELIEVABLE (video) officialABAT daughter Funmilayo Tinubu opposes her father’s desperation to be president. Says he’s unfit to rule Nigeria at this critical time.”

In the video, the woman called Tinubu her father at different points while making her point.

Verification

Checks by Daily Trust revealed that the caption used in the post is misleading.

The video, which was originally posted on Instagram, had been shared recently on Twitter.

However, the author of the original post is an activist and Instagram Influencer, Adetoun Onajobi who posted the video on her official Instagram page (justadetoun) in July.

Daily Trust gathered that she referred to Asiwaju Tinubu as her “father” in the video figuratively because she considers him a father out of respect and the relationship he has with her husband.

Before the video surfaced on the internet, Adetoun had previously made it clear in an interview on a show called Rubbin’ Minds, that “Tinubu is like a father to me but I will never endorse him.”

Conclusion

Daily Trust can confirm that the video is misleading and was not made by any of Tinubu’s biological children.
