Bola Tinubu will run on the template of President Muhammadu Buhari if elected president in 2023, his campaign spokesman Festus Keyamo clarified on Friday.

Presidential Candidate Tinubu is seeking to succeed his partyman in the next dispensation but there have been concerns about the direction his government would run given the woeful performance of the incumbent.

Mr Tinubu’s associate and former party chairman Adams Oshiomhole had on Thursday sought to extricate Mr Tinubu from the failure of the Buhari regime, claiming his man has not been part of the government.

But Mr Keyamo, a serving junior minister for Labour and Employment said Mr Oshiomhole was misinterpreted by the media.

“It is the same APC template that both leaders (Buhari and Tinubu) that they will use,” Mr Keyamo said in an interview on Channels TV on Friday night.

“I saw one misleading headline from one of the papers yesterday and I laughed. It was misleading, misinterpreting what one of our leaders said. That we were distancing ourselves from the records of Buhari. That is utter nonsense. Like I said, we are proud of the record of the APC.” The APC chieftain said.

Mr Keyamo emphasised that Mr Tinubu is proud of the achievements of the Buhari regime. He said Mr Tinubu may however choose to improve on certain aspects of governance “on the same template of progressivism.”

Nigeria has regressed on almost all indexes of national development in over seven years of the Buhari regime with worsening insecurity and the economy in comatose. Public universities have been shut for about six months as lecturers continue agitation over poor condition of service.

In 2018, Nigeria displaced India to become the world’s poverty capital, according to a report by Brookings Institution, while Nigeria’s total public debt hit N41.60 trillion under the watch of the Buhari-led regime, according to the Debt Management Office.

Nigerians sha. When you work for a company and are still drawing salary there, do you begin openly criticising the company?

No. You must use diplomacy to remain complimentary about the company especially if planning to succeed the MD.

We can be mischievous all day long, because of ethnic or sectional affiliation, but every Nigerian, honest to himself, know Tinubu is totally different to Buhari.

Even those who may vote clannishly, like Fulani herdsmen, will be far better off under Tinubu than their own kinsmen they feel obligated to support electorally.

This is the tragedy of Nigeria where sentiments, tribalism, ignorance, illiteracy and inability to focus on what matters prevents many Nigerian from noting what matters to see who/what is best for them.

Take our Nigerian Fulani herdsmen for example and not the killers from Niger Republic, Chad, Mali, Sudan etal.

They may clannishly opt for Atiku or Kwankwaso who would never improve their lot but Tinubu , with his stated plans for modern ranching, would turn them into educated, deliberate, modern, scientific and rich livestock farmers.

While Tinubu plans what is seen below for nomadic Fulani cattle rearers, as a solutions to herdsmen v farmer/community dispute, Buhari is busy sabre-rsttling with the insistence "no going back on grazing routes" and the continuation of obsolete and retrogressive practices.

The two leaders are a million miles apart and we should not play mischief with that reality if truly a progressive people.

We know one , i.e Tinubu, actually has better plans for Fulani herdsmen even if he is not Fulani. The challenge in Nigeria is to show Fulanis how to discern this so they can do themselves and their future a favour.

Cattle ranching proves more beneficial than nomadic grazing model

MOYOSORE Olatunde Rafiu has proved that ranching is one of the cattle-rearing models that work.

He owns a medium-sized farm in Olara community in Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State. The farm sits on 80 acres of land and has a solar-powered borehole that provides water to the cows.

He has 25 cross-bred cattle and 32 indigenous cows.

Unlike several farmers who move their cows from place to place, Rafiu keeps his cattle on the farm, thereby reducing the cost of rearing them by at least 20 per cent.

He told The ICIR that his cows were healthy, producing more milk than those of farmers moving from place to place.

Rafiu is also regularly updating his skills in cattle rearing. He has gone to Kenya, Uganda and other countries of Africa to upgrade his skills.

Due to his style of rearing cattle, Friesland Campina WAMCO, a Dutch dairy firm, has helped him to grow, training him in modern cattle-rearing skills. On the other hand, he supplies raw milk from his cattle to the company, which uses it as an essential raw material. He makes N5,000 to N10,000 each day from supplying milk alone.
