President Omaluegwuoku Progressive Initiative (OPI), Ginika Tor, has explained why the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has yet to visit the South East geopolitical zone to sell his candidacy.

Tor, while unveiling the Tinubu Campaign Strategies and Support Office in Abuja, said the delay by Tinubu was aimed at ensuring that the ranks of his supporters in the zone were effectively mobilised.

“Tinubu holds Ndigbo in high esteem. He is bidding his time to take his campaign trail to the South East geopolitical zone with a big bang. His supporters are everywhere in the zone. We have been talking, planning and strategising for his visit,” she noted.

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) official faulted the notion that Tinubu would not attract the desired votes from Ndigbo to actualise his presidential ambition in 2023.

The APC chieftain, who met with Ndigbo residents in key states of the six geopolitical zones of the country, reiterated the call on Ndigbo to get to the mainstream of Nigerian politics to actualise the quest for the emergence of a President of Igbo extraction in the years ahead.

Tor said her group was initially rooting for a South East presidential candidate, but filed behind Tinubu when he emerged as the party’s flag bearer.

Jude Idimogu, representing Oshodi/Isolo II in Lagos State House of Assembly, assured that Tinubu would address the marginalisation of Ndigbo in the country.

However, hundreds of youths and supporters of APC from the North Central converged in Abuja, yesterday, to protest against the Muslim-Muslim ticket adopted by the party.

The demonstrators, under the aegis of North Central Progressives Youth (NCPY), began the protest at Unity Fountain and ended it at the Presidential Villa.

Chanting solidarity songs, the youths from the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) held banners with inscriptions: ‘APC presidential ticket must be for all faith’, ‘Shettima must go now, All Christians say no to Islamisation of APC presidential ticket’, ‘Tinubu and Shettima must do the needful, it is our constitutional right’, ‘Don’t destroy the unity of Nigeria’, among others.

President of NCPY, Musa Attah, described Tinubu, as a man loved and adored by Nigerians, but added that his only obstacle to the presidential seat is his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima.

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the former Lagos governor to replace Shettima with a Christian for the good of the party and Nigeria.

In Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Solidarity Vanguard (BATS-Vanguard) is set for inauguration on Thursday, August 25.

BATS-Vanguard is headed by the founder, Dr. Dare Owotomobi, while Dr. Shakirudeen Anifowose is the chairman, Lagos branch.

According to Anifowose, the group is independent and not sponsored by any personality.

“We want someone that can deliver results, performance-based results, not just promises; that is why we choose to work for Tinubu,” he said.

Anifowose explained that their support for Tinubu was hinged on trust for his political philosophy that prioritises the development of human capital and economy.

He highlighted that the group would make use of social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to mobilise people.

“We are bringing to the fore a knowledge-driven campaign based on huge contributions of Tinubu to the country’s democracy, coupled with his untiring efforts as a nation and people builder over the years,” Anifowose added.

Also Chairman, Publicity Committee, Lagos chapter, Daniel Abiodun, said: “You cannot become a leader except God ordained you. Tinubu has footprints all over Nigeria. He has helped and lifted many people. He doesn’t discriminate on the basis of religion. I urge Nigerians to support him, as he has what it takes to move the nation to its promise land.”

South-East is the only region in Nigeria who don't play tribal politics.
We always support the best.
From Obasanjo, to Yaradua, to Goodluck Jonathan, to Atiku & now to Peter Obi because we know Obi is currently the best, youngest & the most presentable amongst the rest.
Tinubu knows that his islamization agenda is dead on arrival in the South-South and South-East.
& we would definitely vote them out & then try someone different like Obi.
If Obi also fails to perform after his 1st tenure, we vote him out too until they start fearing the power of the people.
That way they wouldn't dare mess with us again.
NOTE: I am a Peter Obi supporter, but i would be the 1st person to campaign against him if eventually he becomes the president & turns out to be a failure.
Unlike some Tinubu urchins who are still blindy supporting the failed party A.P.C because of tribal sentiments.
Peter Obi is not an Igbo affair because no Igbo man would support corrupt Rochas or Kalu.

You have to be extremely STUPID for you to genuinely believe that Peter Obi supporters are IPOB members.

But lets assume some IPOB members support him, should you not be happy that because of a man people that lost hope in Nigeria now believe that A NEW NIGERIA is possible?
A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE.

Nobody wants Tinubu, he is too old, extremely corrupt and highly visionless!

Nigerians are tired of Old ancestors criminals, we have decided it is peter Obi we want.

peter obi isn't the one contesting, we the Nigerian youths are contesting through him

This article is nothing but the works of political jobber

Tinubu and his wife hates Igbos and they have never pretended about it

Tinubu toured Nigeria ahead of APC presidential primaries. He never stepped his foot in the east even when APC had 2 states in the east. Imo and Ebonyi

Left for Tinubu and his wife. They would have chased every Igbo man from Lagos.

When Tinubu says Emi lokan, he has Igbos in mind. When he says Omo ale. He is insulting all Yorubas who are not ritualistic as he is.

But many Yorubas have responded to him.

Gibberish. Igbo didn't vote Awolowo, Abiola, Buhari. Sink that into your skull. You're the tribalist.

You supported Obasanjo because you had no choice since Yoruba had the right to Field several because of Abiola Mandate..

Meanwhile, stop wailing and playing the victim because Igbo have ruled Nigeria in the likes of Ironsi and Azikiwe but what did they do? In fact, they were the ones who destroyed the country.

Which SS, north central and North West? It's so obvious you haven't been updated recently.

we the South South are on lockdown for peter Obi. North Central is gradually becoming a lockdown for labour party same as North Central. Stop consoling yourself that Tinubu will get votes from these regions. What exactly will they campaign with? Drugs or what?

Ogbeni we the Edos and the entire south south is on lockdown for Peter Obi

Tinubu is a failed project.

There's this joy in the hearts of many, knowing that Peter Obi is contesting; our only sign of hope.

highchief1:
who is the pass project

Shey e no clear to You from my comment?

highchief1:
lol Nigeria no be yankee sha.E go shock una

That one no concern me.
Even if Peter Obi looses, those of us that will vote for him will know that we did our best to vote for a credible candidate.

Na all of us go still suffer or enjoy the results of whoever win.
