It’s actually not true. He is not being charged for beating traffic light. He is being charged for expired papers by VIS. Go do your research, your uncle paper has expired.

When did LASTMA or whichever agency take the data of all motorists in the state undecided undecided

You cannot fool all the people the same time.

There’s something called number plate reader, you usually don’t take notice of it around traffic stops, it takes a photo capturing your license plate and automatically the data of owner can be read and fined according to offense the camera captured.

I have a masters degree from UK.

Obi is a third class graduate.

Most institutions would not admit him for a direct masters degree.

He can try a Postgraduate diploma programme.

It is real. When you do not have enough knowledge of something, do not be emphatic in disputing it. As a matter of fact this is not new in lagos especially in Alausa. Beat traffic light there and be ready to pay. Most of the recent traffic lights installed have cameras mounted on them. Once your plate number is picked, your phone number and house address are identified inthe vehicle registration data and you are easily contacted. However, you are free to go and try if you are in doubt

Wait how government take know your uncle number, was your uncle car even registered, I don't think any Nigeria state government have such data base right now, I see two things here, is either your uncle dey bobo you or this is pure joke
calm down bro, the cameras now scan your plate number and records it against you if you offend. I was a victim last year. My vehicle license expired and I drove for one week before going for renewal, I didn't know 20k fine was waiting for me. They said the camera caught me driving with expired license.

Dear muman,

The technology is simply a camera to capture plate number of vehicles crossing after the red light is on.
Each plate number has a registration name and phone number.

I blame our leaders who had seen this abroad but failed to bring it to you.

Wow, we are getting there. Digital. So, they tracked him ba. grin Next time he will think twice before beating traffic to a party. The next is to ensure the 20k being paid is not diverted to personal purse. Once the controls are in place like this we are assured of getting better. No need for police chasing traffic offenders all over the place and possibly constituting a menace or causing accidents.
yes. We are moving in the right direction. His bank can deduct it immediately to the govt account. Case settled. Till next time.

The penalty has nothing to do with traffic light, his vehicle license has expired and needs to be renewed. He will be told his real offense once he gets in touch with them.
no you know about penalty to expired vehicle documents when you want to renew. I didn't get a phone text messages until I went for renewal

This is a good development.
No need for police to waste their time chasing defaulters on the road and possibly causing accidents and traffic congestion.
Unfortunately quite a number of those policemen who chase the road traffic Offenders are not doing it to apprehend the offender for the law to take its cause, but to extort what they can from the violator.
