OP has never owned property hence why they cannot understand why someone would not want strangers parked in front of their home. |

Mostdetailed:I'm not sure if it's a main road and not ur drive way. The road is not ur private property. And as for security issues u can inquire for who or why they are parked there or just observe if any funny behaviour bt u can't stop them from parking on public property. That's not trespassing. Even shops do it once they see ure not their customer and this is not their drive way bt actual main road. it's wrong and unlawful. |

Just tell them to put signboard with the insscription "NO PARKING by police order", if they don't want anybody to park there. This is what I told a woman who accused me of parking in front of her shop, and the shop is directly opposite 'A DIVISION' Ilorin. I told her to walk across to the police station and lodge a complain. U only paid for the shop and NOT the road, besides I pay my tax regularly and this is one of the sources of income to the government, she's fuming. I was waiting for her to do her worst when a man walked up to me and asked me to hop in and zoom off. He said I should ignore her. |

I guess you've lived in one or some of these socialist countries where government controls everything, including the school your child must attend and the type of residence you can live We have too much freedom in Nigeria (due to failure of the three tiers of government) and people get to misuse and abuse their freedom.Remember that these guys organized themselves, constructed the road, fixed their water system, and some go as far as buying transformers. There is no way you can convince them that the road within the gated estate belongs to "everybody" and "nobody." Even the government does not have that moral right. |

sukkot:Why only you fighting everybody. In the gated estates, yes they do have the entitlement right, they organized themselves, paid heavily to build the roads for their convinency, normally they do advice residents to park within their houses and if you must park outside, it should be within the frontage limit of your house or of your guest. |

If they dump a dead body in front of that space you call government road that's in front of my house would the police have reasons to speak with me? I might not own that space legally but I'm the custodian. So I decide who parks there and what goes on around there cz it's in front of my house |

The land in which the roads and houses are built belong to the government. Therefore, if someone builds his/her house close to a road, the houses can be demolished by the government during road expansion. So,who owns the land?Hence,no landlord has the right to embarrass any motorist that parked his /her vehicle in a road close to their house except for security breach. |

sukkot:my dad paid for land, the man that own the road/entrance to the land also sold the entrance for my dad, collect traditional right for the entrance too. Now the entrance has become road to be accessed by about three other compound. People are passing there too. In this Case my father can claim ownership of the place because he paid fully for the entrance that is now road |

SonofGod231:Yenagoa issue is that they lack town planning. They will sell land for you without reserving motorable road rather only small footpaths. Same with some places in Portharcourt. Them don carry same mentality come my village in Enugu state. I thought I have seen enough in Portharcourt and yenagoa till I traveled to villa recently ![]() |

adioolayi:If you see any parked car as a security threat, it's not their business. Nobody should suffer due to your paranoia. The road in front of your house is a public space and no one individual should lay claim to it. |

BlackDuke:Lol. It doesn't matter, you can bring a chair out and sit from morning till evening to ensure nobody does there, but the road in front of your house is not your private space. |

It's the same way one yeye woman selling okrika bra at Yaba warned me not to pass the walkway where she displayed her discolored underwears. I actually passed there while going, she insulted me and dared me to pass on my way back. I was almost passed another road while going back but then I remembered her dare and went back to pass the walkway. She screamed and shouted and I insulted her forefathers too. I actually thought she would do worse then I would have shown her small something too. Very lawless people, after they will say naija is not good when they're the ones spoiling it. |

It is my space and I said no parking, you ought to respect yourself! |

I write as owner of a property. Most time people park in your frontage, these are the things they do- 1-They can urinate in your drainage system while you watch them. 2 some reckless danfo drivers can sweep their dirty in your frontage. 3 some would even turn your frontage to mechanic workshop. 4 some can even sit down on your verhander saying they are taking fresh air. 5 some we make it their permanent garage. 6 some would live their house and dump rubbish in your gutter. Tell me how you will not be mad with intruder that park frivolous in your frontage when you pay tenement and land use charge. Mad o to intruder! |

GloriousGbola:Oga u are still sounding like the owner of the road. The road (govt property) is in front of ur house. So as far as the law is concerned u are also a stranger which means u don't have the exclusively right to refer to someone as a stranger and you as what again? Landlord? Oga provided the " stranger" is not blocking ur entrance, u will have to find another place to park ur car. U do not have any right to decide where and why ur stranger park his car. |

They are entitled to the space in front of their property, its an entrance to their property and you can't block it, when you get your own property, you can allow people to park in front of your property, when you have no access or space to your house, then you will know how they feel. You're also feeling entitled to someone else property and space, why will you park in front of someone house, nah your papa pay for that place you wan park? Op, get sense, you're claiming its government property, will the government even allow you park on their road without them impounding your car? You can't park on someone's space and have it in your head you have no right to do so, some estates have marked space for parking and you can use that space but if you use any other space that has no parking markings, then you should be fined for violation... |

Elliotwaveforec:ok i see lots of you have been saying this thing about blocking the entrance of someones house. well that is what mad people do. i am not mad. when i say park on the street in front of your house, say for example your house is long enough that the street equivalent is that it can park 3 cars , then i will take one of those spots without blocking your gates. but some idiots find issue with you parking on the street even if you are not blocking their gate. thats what i m saying |
