The ongoing saga over Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United future has taken yet another turn, with reports suggesting the United talisman could be set for a move to Italy with Napoli.

Napoli have been considering a move for the 37-year-old throughout the summer, but talks appeared to have broken down before a bid had been submitted.

Ronaldo has made no attempt to hide his desire to continue playing Champions League football this season, with United's sixth-placed finish last term confining the legendary striker to his first season outside of the competition since turning out in the UEFA Cup for Sporting Lisbon in 2002.

Napoli striker Victor Osimén could go to Old Trafford for a fee of £84.5m if the deal goes through, according to reports.

United are said to have tried to lower Napoli's asking price for the Nigerian striker by offering a swap deal for Ronaldo, but the Italian club has decided not to be upset by the €100m asking price. I refused.

Osimmen's move could provide the firepower Erik ten Hag has sought since taking over as United manager earlier this summer.
