My Passport Collection Experience at NIS HQ Sauka, Abuja, was something else.

After waiting 8 weeks from date of capture i was tired and then decided to visit the NIS HQ Sauka, to know whats going on, i was told by the officer who verifies at the collection centre that my passport is still in production he then wrote E on the paper i gave him, i probed further to know what E means and was told thats the final stage of production, i left in disappointment.

Then at the 11th week of waiting i got a text from NIS clearly indicating that my Passport was ready for collection, i waited for the next morning and joyfully zoomed to the collection section at NIS HQ Sauka, Abuja. The officer at one of the counters checked and said i should submit to those at the collection room/store, after waiting for others in line when i gave them my paper the officers said it was too early for collection that i was supposed to wait for at least a week that they dont have my Passport yet, again i left in disappointment.

Then the 12th week after 8 days i went straight to the officers at the collection room and gave them my details on the sheet of paper then the officer told me to sit and wait for them to check, names where called for collection and people where trooping in and out, so after waiting close to 30 minutes the officer called my name i was really happy to hear my name but then the Officer said He cant find my Passport that i should check back in another weeks time, by now Anger don d enter me but i try control my anger and expressed my self that this was the same thing the other officer told me the previous weeks that what is going on? And immediately a very Kind Female Officer said its like she saw my name that i should wait She will check now within 2 minutes of checking She brought out my Passport, na so my Joy returned oooo, i thanked Her again and again(God bless the good officers). So i was then asked to register it and Activate it at the other counter.

So we have good officers who do what is right and care about others then we have bad officers who care about their pockets!
The official timeline is not being adhered to, especially when you are following the right steps without bribing anyone.

You finally got your passport. Congrats. We captured the same month and at Sauna Abuja but mine has been with me since 2 months ago. DIY is not for the weak

Why don't you just pay someone to do it for you? The process is a tedious one and I had someone do everything for me. I just travelled on my capture date and captured in less than 10 mins and my passport came out in one week.

Can I do a change of data on the immigration portal ? Specifically a change of name, there's a mismatch between the name on my previous passportand my NIN, thus preventing me from getting a new passport. I have all the necessary documentations, a sworn affidavit. Someone told me I have to go to Abuja, and pay a hefty sum. But another told me I could now use the portal. Which do I follow..?

It was a funny, stressful and wonderful experience. I didn't pay a kobo to any one from start to finish.
The challenge I faced was with the officers in the "FRONT OFFICE", they said I supposed to have open a file with them immediately I applied Online or two weeks to my capture date. I said, I didn't see that on their web-site. They now said I should pay 14k so that they can fast track the process or I should go and reapply for another capturing date online. I just told they I need to make a "CALL" outside... One of them just told me to go and see the "PCO". The PCO was a nice woman, she just gave them order to attend to me. That was how I did my capturing oOo.
Team DIY is working. I was encouraged by people contributions and experience on this platform. God Bless Team DIY.

I don’t know why. Apply online then schedule appointment to submit the required documents at nearest immigration / passport office.

Remark:
We have a long way. A female officer that collected my file kept on asking and reminding me that I should pay processing fee and when I rejected she purposely gave me "Minor form" to fill. Since I was not ready to argue I filled it and gave it back to her.

I was later called to approval room and given the right form.
Not too long, I was given another form again, similar to what I just filled and was told is "the back form".

The same woman tried to remind the approval officer that I filled ordinary form (meaning without any officer's recommendations OR sorting) but the approval officer just asked me if I'm sure I filled the right details.

I was called by another officer who asked what was my mode of payment which I answered yet that same lady officer showed up again reminding me that I have not paid for my processing fee, but this time around I simply told her I'm not paying that there's no such thing.

this is only a summary of my ordeal today.

While tracking it online, it hasn't ticked the last option. Will I get a text message when it's ready? Please help.

I booked appointment on May 5th at Ikoyi, captured on July 20th and till now nothing, still at production even thou I fast tracked.

Sure all things being equal you will be notified from the track site or via SMS but check again after a month if you've not be notified via those platforms

not in all states. Any state that has launched enhanced ppt- Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Enugu can not issue the older types of passport.

Can I travel with the old one?

Mine have been here for more than 2 weeks now, if not 3.

Guy you better begin your renewal from TODAY! I started this process in May. This is already heading to September and no show. On top fast track.

Aside the Application fee you don't have to pay anything to anybody. The officers will try to extort you anyway,but you have to stand your ground. Also there are different experience in different states...

I saw a website for tracking today so I decided to track my application and got the biggest shock of my life. My portal is yet to be updated at all. It’s been over 3 weeks since I captured and my profile is still like this. Is this normal?

Stamp is 500naira which makes 26500 but they charged you 60,000

Now, on 1appicants they makes 33,500

On 100 applicants they makes 3,350,000

This is number 1 reason why these officers are making things difficult for DIY applicants

Alausa passport office recieves thousands of applicants on weekly basis same as other passport offices

May God help us

they did not charge him, he is the person that went to them. He has 60k to dash.

hope you got the response you need, it is not. Is this new or renewal.
Submitting of form is just good,so that u can get straight to capturing,though this is now online,but we still have to go there and repeat the work u did online.
