Why don't you park in front of the premises you are visiting?

I have a long low gate-like fence in front of my house. If you park there, I deflate your tyres...cos you're not sure of where I have chosen to access my compound through! When you build your own house, you will understand!

Go call police.
so if you deflate my tires how am i supposed to move away from your house front ? are you not defeating the purpose of getting me to move by deflating my tires ?

I have had issues with 'mad' Nigerians over this madness. you will see people put tire on the road in front of their house so that you will not park in front of their house like did you pay for the road too? Is the road your property?

And when you park there they will leak your tire. Please, do these idiots know that their property does not extend beyond the fence you paid for? You don't own the road. I hate these people with this entitlement mindset. One idiot haas actually leaked my tire because I parked on government road that happens to be in front of his property. You will see these demonic sons of baal disfigure the whole place by putting tires on roads in front of their house so someone does not park there.

This has happened to me in estates too. When you buy a house in a gated estate do you buy the road in front of your house with it? I seriously need an answer to this particular question because I have had troubles with people in gated estates who think the road in front of their house is theirs and no one can park on it?
If you want to park infront of someone's house or property, just take permission from the owners. They will not refuse. Parking without informing them is disrespectful to me.

Opposite my house is a rented apartment filled with Yahoo Boys.
Anytime they want to park their Cars, they will leave their own front and park at our front.

Their compound would be Free. Their own front would be Free but it's my front they want to park their cars even leave it there till morning.

The worst is when they bring their Friends over or throw a party.

Until we had to make serious trouble with them before it stopped and that's becos we are nice people.

Some people will just go straight to the Police Station and make a report that a very large amount of money is stolen in their house and a strange car which they don't know off at so so time was parked and is always parked in front of their house.

At that moment, all fingers would be pointed to you and you will pay heavy for it.

Those Yahoo Boys thought we were causing trouble with them when we told them to stop parking but if we really wanted to cause trouble, I knew what to do and they would be in Police/EFCC net till now.

P.S: They are still living opposite us and Yes, their Landlord knows they are all Yahoo. But like I said...we are nice people wink

GerogeI:
I have read all kinds of excuses on simple common civility, that I think Nigerians are mis-educated. Just like this poster. The simple question is does your property extend into the public space called road. The simple answer is no. If it did, you that is claiming the road in front of your house will not be able to go to market or work or school. Because you will have to use roads passing in front of other peoples houses.

What business of your is it, what a car parked, legally parked on a public road in front of your house is doing inside if the person has not invited you or knocked on your door? Whether sex or otherwise. If public nudity is a crime, then call the police, not blocking legsl road users as collateral purnishment. Who even gave you the job of preventing sex in a car in the first place.

Some people are talking of parking, as if the road in front of their house is their private garage. If you need private parking, build your own in your house. If you are parking on the road, note that it was built and approved by tax payers (even the road in your estate is public property, unless your estate is specifically designated as a private space which is rare), as such is a first come first serve parking space. Apart from junctions, and cross roads, any two lane road approved by town planning authority is a legal parking space for anybody, unless otherwise stated via a notice by the local Government authority. Not police or Army, as they have no jurisdiction over space planning.

The most annoying, blocking street roads in the name of neighbourhood association. You have zilch rights over public roads either as landlords or tenants. That expressway you pass everyday goes in front of someones house. Even a mad man from the furthest boarderland in Nigeria has every right to pass through that estate gate you lock everyday without hinderance. For your security, secure your house, not the roads we all share just because you live close to that section

But alas, we live among mad people who are so strangely selfish and self centered that they cannot build a society, but think they are sane. The level of our brain self awareness has not gone much further away from that of animals, and is still not much further than the "me, I, mine, my" . Even public funds is not about the public but about their pockets, positions of public service to them is not about the service, but about their kingship and new found powers. They turn democratic tenets into validations of their alpha ego. Thats why tinubu is shouting emilokan, when he should be begging people to give him mandate.

Black people are inherently flawed in their psychology. They cannot work together, they cannot build except individually, they lack the brian capacity to project and understand the consequences of their choices and actions. Trust is a concept that they do not understand. Rather like mere monkies they steal and horde everything they can. Leadership to them means only Kingship and physical supremacy, hence their leaders only allow power to transcend at the point of their death. Like monkey troupes or tribes, the young leaders must kill the old leader to take power, so animalistic, but we all want to claim to be humans.
You largely wrote well here. But remember this obvious but largely ignored FACT.

Humans are considered as "animals" because they occupy the animal body! Humans have the same body organs such as pink tongues, eyes, eye lashes, teeth, ears, finger nails, etc, that other mammals and animals have. I stopped eating red meat because of this years ago. grin Only self-awareness separates one human animal from the other human.

Little wonder some folks would beat the traffic lights, unless they know they are being watched remotely via circuit
TV cameras. Lol

@Sukkot will agree with me here.

Cheers.

How far does the security zone extend?.... up to the parking lane?... to the middle of the street? I'm waiting for a sensible answer.

@ topic.... the owner has no right or control over street parking .... that's public space. Should I park in front a residence and return to find my tires flat.... that house ... and the car will be bombed with rotten eggs.
Lol... That cracked me up.

Yes... You can engage him in a convo just to confirm and check his profile and thread posts. Lol.

Yeah Sukkot, NYC had a lot of violent gun attacks back in the day.
A lot of gentrification is still going on and the Chinese and Russians invested in Real Estate in NY.

Wow! He must have been a real "cool cat" for you to still have good memories of him while you were in the U.S. "Demu Cafe"... I assume this must have been in the 1980s? He def must have retired back to Nigeria now from Brooklyn.

Real Estate folks in Nigeria especially in Lagos and Ogun States are really targeting elderly
Diasporan Nigerians living in the
U.S., UK, Canada, etc, who want to retire back to Nigeria with fantastic estate offers.

There's a Nigerian of Yoruba
descent who established the very successful "Buka Restaurant" where Americans, other Africans and Nigerians come to eat dodo, pounded yam and all types of efo riro, and more. He got the funding for his business entirely from the U.S. Government.

By the way Sukkot, have you heard anything about @ibkayee from

I hope she hasn't passed on, but if so, it'll be nice to have final closure.

Good morning Sukkot.

She did say that her parents have plans to retire back to Nigeria after decades of living in England.

Even though she's British-Nigerian like you, I like the fact that you currently have business or investment tentacles in Lagos, Nigeria. This gives folks a proper grounding and ability to spot investment opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic.

That's the way it should be for all Nigerians in the Diaspora regardless of whether they live in turbulent times or not in the
Western countries or Eastern countries.

The Chinese and Indian Diaspora are doing the same through remitances and more.

I was speaking generally about my disdain for what so-called
contractors have to go through to cut deals.

Absolutely... Those financial assets that you listed, [sans bitcoin which is very volatile and has dropped in value]. But stocks, indices, currency and commodities trading are the real deal financial assets. If you get trained on technical, fundamental, and sentimental analyses, you'll
withstand the current and future global economic headwinds. grin

From your post, you’re clearly not Nigerian. I’m going to try to reply you in the most polite way possible because your post vexes the hell out of me. Now, I don’t know where you come from, but if you live in a country or state for the first time, I believe it’s your duty to abide by the laws and way of life of the people in that state or country. Now, maybe where you come from you park cars in front of houses and it’s considered a norm. But here, it’s rude and inconsiderate af. Yet, other stupid Nigerians still do this to other people. I’m a living witness and sufferer of such nonsense. When someone buys or rents a house, the drive-in or space that leads to the gate of that house belongs to them. You don’t block people’s entrances, most especially in gated estates. I’m even surprised they do this in estates too. If you block their entrance, how do you expect the occupant of that place to drive in or out? It’s a selfish and asinine behavior of whomever parks in front of a gate. Like, are you blind or something? If it were done to you, I’m sure you wouldn’t like it. And the fact that you feel entitled to parking where is inconvenient for occupants is what’s making this post even more irritating to read. I’m glad they’ve deflated your tyres as punishment for such. You deserved it. It’s a lesson to you and others to not inconvenience others for your selfishness and thoughtlessness. I don’t know what you expect them to do, maybe hug you for being stupid? I didn’t think so. Next time, when you see a gate, DO NOT PARK THERE. It’s someone’s entrance and courtesy demands you respect that.
