no, most pedestrians ride public transportation as in the metro train or bus. No masks! L.O.L.

Also, combustible engine cars letting off carbon monoxide doesn't kill you unless you are stuck in a place where that's all you breathe in. . . all though I know it's not the healthiest thing for you to breathe at all.

So, ban smoking and unleash electric cars all around!

i agree that smoking in public places should be banned
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by sheif: 12:39am On Sep 24, 2005
Small point of correction. Passive somking is when a non smoker inhales the fumes from a smoker's cigarettes. Casual smoking is when someone doesn't smoke very often e.g. they only smoke socially, at the bar or at parties etc.
I agree that people have the right to smoke. Sometimes I question it though. Why is it OK to smoke, but not do cocaine, heroine, amphetamines, etc? Anyway that is not the point of this topic as suicide is no longer illegal. It is very unhealthy to smoke but the case with smoking is that it inflicts these health risks on innocent people as well which is wrong so I think it should be banned in public places. Not really to stop people from smoking (as that's not really the way to go about it). But to protect the non smokers, especially children. As we live in a democracy I would have said we should put it to the public to decide whether or not it should be banned in public places as there's no clear cut answer to questions like this. But in this situation, for the sake of innocent children's health, yes, it should be banned.
Also is it just me but it seems like many Nigerian movies tend to promote smoking as 'cool' nowadays.

Smoking in public is kool and every one should try it at some point in time and you'll all find it quite an experience tongue
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by Owen(m): 6:26pm On Oct 07, 2005
Haha!! Just kidding... Its really bad. Some one beside a smoker who inhales the fumes from the cigarette takes in almost twice the amount of nicotene than the smoker. So its not only morally wrong to smoke in public.. angry.its also dangerous to those around...

Smoking in public is as good as keeping other people's life at risk making them passive smoker and thereby endanging their life so it should be banned

What if someone invented a special helmet that you could wear over your head while smoking so that the smoke didn't affect anyone else?
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by Greatpeter(m): 8:38pm On Oct 22, 2005
That is welcome as long as it doesn't affect non smokers.
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by Nobody: 5:08pm On Nov 07, 2005
i hate smoking...i can't even stand the smell! not only it's should be banned to smoke in public but also be considered illegal cause it damages our health and the people around
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by ocho(f): 4:09pm On Nov 09, 2005
Smoking in public place should be banned for the sake of our(non smokers) health! It has been said that second hand smoking(which means inhaling the smoke from someone else's cigarettes) is equally  health threatening
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by Z4M4eva(f): 1:49pm On Nov 15, 2005
Why do people smoke neway?, it is very disgusting, and what i dislike so much about it is that, most of this smokers are very inconsiderate and do not just care about others around them inhaling da stuff, n it's just so annoying, netime i walk past a smoker, i just cover my nose with my hands, cos if they wanna die early, then that's their problem, but i don't.
It's also very rude too, cos some people just do it STRAIGHT TO UR FACE like, "so wat?what do i care"?, it's just so rude.
N also most of this smokers, if not all of them, know that smoking is very harmful to their health, but they just can't stop it, some doesn't want to, n some don't know how to, cos they are so addicted to it. I think smokers should try to stop smoking(it's not easy, yeah!, easier said than done), but still, they SHOULD TRY. There are pple out there who have QUITED.

Ka, lol, that is a very funny idea, but u see, if there was an helmet for a non smoker to use, just to protect themselves from da cigarette smoke,I WOULDN'T PUT IT ON, i would rather use my hand.I'm not gonna use an HELMET , just cos someone's smoking.

P.S: Ka, I love ur idea, i'm just saying that, I wouldn't wear an helmet, that's all, just an opinion. smiley

I forget which state this happened in a few weeks ago but they have banned smoking in bars. Pretty soon they will move to ban smoking in any public place. I can't wait for that day. I'm tired of being stuck behind someone who's smoking and having the smell and smoke come back on me.
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by fabian(f): 2:49pm On Nov 15, 2005

Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by loveth(f): 10:03pm On Nov 15, 2005

Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by WesleyanA(f): 10:08pm On Nov 15, 2005
when someone smokes besides you or in the same room as you and you breathe in the unpure air you're kind of smoking too even though you don't have a cigarrete. if it gets too much or excessive, you might get lung cancer from it. so it's not necessarily the smokers that are affected.
Re: Smoking in Public: Should It Be Banned? by vexxy(f): 1:23am On Nov 16, 2005
True. That's because the smoke the 'non smoker' is inhaling is unfiltered where as the smoker's is.
